I love this CD - once I get over the fact that I should have been at this concert but left it up to a friend to secure tickets, and by the time he remembered they had sold out!
This is a live double compilation combining the talent and hard hitting sound of Metallica with the unexpected - the San Francisco Symphony - both masters in their respective fields; but at the same time, from two very different genres of music. Yet it works and puts a new twist on the Metallica Classics - a twist I loved!!
In addition to the Metallica hits, they introduce two new songs Human and No Leaf Clover - the latter quickly became a huge favorite of mine, and Frontman James Hetfield introduces us to a new side of his vocal talents.
For the most part, one would assume that Metal fans do not listen to Classical and vice versa, so this meeting of two distinct music genres brings an exciting and fresh twist to what were already superb and very much renowned tracks...an all time favorite album of mine and a MUST for a Metallica fan!

It so neat listening to Metallica and the symphony I just love this CD. IT has all the great songs. I wish I could have been there to hear it live. It show that music is such a thing to bring many types of people together

Metallica with the San Fransico Symphony OrcestraI bought this Metallica cd at first just to finish my collection of Metallica cds, but it was really a great cd. Metallica hits backed by the San Fransico Symphony Orcestra I thought always sounded a bit strange, but it actually works very well and it sounds great.

Newstead Forever!Absolutely incredible recording. I like the Orchestra behind the band, but I coudl also do without it. This is absolutely Metallica in their prime. Trujillo is good, but Newstead is way better. Metallica will never reach this level again without the likes of Newstead. I wore out my first S&M, I ripped it over and over again, until I wore those out. Now Its time to Ipod it for LIFE!

Smashing lyrical mixture with symphonic overtures!
) Classical Metallica ... need I say more! Musak never sounded so good! The symphony makes the songs stand out even though they need no assistance. Nearly every favorite is included and well represented I might add. If you are a fan, you definitely want this album as you will not reqret the purchase.

Brought this after I found my 60 year old Australian friend grooving to this cd while she did her ironing. I love Metallica and this is one of their must haves! But the inclusion of the symphony will make "metal" accessible to even non "metal-heads." Really great cd, and the kind that you will listen to over and over.

A Good BuyWhen I was looking for a good cd in my collection a few weeks ago I came out with the same old selection and thought is was a good time for a new cd. Metallica had always beed one of my favorite bands so it was easy deciding on what artist to search for. When I saw the S&M cd listed so cheap I new I wanted to bid on it. After winning and paying for it, in a matter of 4 days it was in my mailbox. Now the CD is in my car and being used almost every day, so it was deffently a good purchase

It figures that Metallica would think of and master this challenge. I'm sure the S.F. symphony was happy to take part in this project. They must have rehersed a lot because this is well coordinated and hits the mark. As if Metallica wasn't brilliant enough to begin with, this just strikes the cord even bigger. If you like the CD, you will love the video. The sight of these guys standing in the middle of a full symphony is something to behold! Non Metallica fans can easily become Metallica fans simply by viewing this. You don't have to be metal head to appriciate this, you simply have to like music at it's finest. On a scale of 1-5, this is a 10.

What cna I say- Metallica Live is always a treat. I'm not a HUGE fan of orchestrations, but it was the end of an era (for them) and it was a nice way to cap things off. Micahel Kamen's orchestrations were on the money for the most port, though the overall tempo seemed to be slowed JUST a bit...but I'm not complaining AT ALL. It was uploaded to my iTunes within minutes of receipt and it's on my Live Metallica playlist.
