The Rutles 2: Can't Buy Me Lunch (DVD, 2005)

The Ruttles are the Monty Python equavalancy of what the Beatles were off camera. Great paradies of Beatles songs and the Beatles movies. This is a real great treat, as the first album "Meet the Ruttles" was just an apirizer. But if you like the Beatles, Monty Python, and British humour in general, you'll LOVE this DVD.

Fun, but not as good as the first movie.
Alot of the sequel is rehashing the original.
I would recommend buying the first movie, but renting the second movie.

If "All you need is cash" left you wanting more, here it is! The Rutles were the legendary band combining the best of the Beatles with the best of Monty Python. Anyone who loves either will love this.

I like the Rutles as a group anyway so the movie is a big plus. It is very funny and well put together, it keeps your attention up to the end of the movie, you don't take time away from the TV. I highly recomend this DVD and I am sure you will also be looking for the Rutles CD's afterwards. Paul

I loved the first Rutles send up. It was clever, insightful and witty. This second one isn;t worth the effort. Except for twelve clever seconds by Steve Martin, this hot on video dog is just a handful of clips from the first one and tries too hard to be funny. Eric Idle comes off as witless and this thing was just meant to make a few pennies. Junk

Don't get me wrong--this is a worthy successor to "The Rutles." But it is a sequel, after all, and unless you are really into the wordplay and the spoofs and parodies of the Beatles, you may not be as enamored of this one as you were of the original. Still, as a Beatles fan, a Monty Python fan, and as one who admires send-ups of modern pop culture in general, I found watching this well worth my time and trouble.

This dvd is just a rehash of the classic "All you need is Cash" ( Rutles part one) with bits of new interviews mixed in with the old footage. Nothing new here. Save your money and invest in "All you need is Cash" instead, it is brilliantly funny!
