Pittsburgh-based The Takeover UK deliver an album's worth of garage-ey power-pop filled with catchy choruses and driving, Strokes-like guitars. True to its anglophile name, the group tops off the sound with lead singer Nick Snyder's snarling early British punk-style vocals. "Ah La La" is definied by its sing-songy chorus and Beatles-like "whoooo!" exclamations while the acoustic "Denise" employs country music-ish vocal harmonies and loping rhythms to evoke the spirit of Gram Parsons and the Eagles.
