Running Scared (DVD, 2006)

Running Scared has been on my mind from the minute I walked out of the theater three days ago. Why? Because I really cannot think of a mainstream Hollywood film that reaches the meteoric heights of violence that it does. Seriously, this is a film with teeth. It is ferocious, twisted and gritty; a pulp fan’s dream come true. It takes off like a rocket in the opening scene and is relentless until the closing credits. Writer/director Wayne Kramer (The Cooler) delivers an uncompromising film that will surely stun audiences with its extremes.

Paul Walker stars as Joey, a bit player in the Italian mob. He and his crew are forced to kill a dirty cop during a drug deal gone awry. He’s given the relatively simple task of disposing of the incriminating gun. He decides to keep it, for reasons explained in the climax, and hides it in his house. While at dinner with his wife and son, he hears arguing from the Russian neighbors next door. Which is then followed by gunfire that shatters his kitchen window. His son’s best friend, Oleg (Cameron Bright), has shot his cruel stepfather and run away into the night. It turns out that the children saw Joey hide the gun. Joey knows he’s a dead man if the gun falls into the wrong hands and resolves to find Oleg at all costs.

There are quite a few surprises in the plot that caught me completely off guard. Just when you think you have an idea of where the story’s going, something happens that throws it in a completely different direction. These twists are somewhat random, but they’re highly entertaining and keep the film on the fast track. Characters who you are led to believe are minor resurface and have a dramatic impact on the outcome. It’s fun to keep guessing and Running Scared delivers some great shocks along the way.

Pacing is the key to Running Scared’s believability and this is where Wayne Kramer truly shines. The film is a constant race. It never drags or slows down. Kramer shoots everything in dramatic in close-ups. Each shot is incredibly tight and focused. We see every drop of the characters blood and sweat. He then intertwines these scenes with breakneck editing and clever special effects. The gimmicks that normally detract work spectacularly here.

It’s a great choice for a midnight movie. It's not too much of a family movie since there are some violence, nudity, gore, and swearing. It will have you on the edge of your seat due to the really intrense scene's and the ending will astonish you and leave you with your jaw wide open.

Everyone who purchases through Ebay has to deal with the shipping. buyers and senders alike, its said, and some sellers take advantage of it and are completely unreasonable. And believe me I know all about shipping working at UPS... so don't even try it

I like that the item I purchased from you was $5 but then shipping is $7.99? MORE THAN THE ITEM?! and We aren't talking about you shipping a 20 pound item, or even a bowling ball, so why so high?

I could have bought this DVD at Wal-Mart for $9.99 OR bought it used at BLOCKBUSTER for $5/10 bucks

After the price of the item THEN the shipping it came to over $13!!! when i could have bought it for less AND got it right away!

if the shipping was $4/5 bucks or less, I wouldn't be writing a negative review at all.

It reminds me of a mechanic over pricing the Auto parts when He actually buys them for HALF PRICE, when everyone is always focusing on the labor he can make extra $$$ over-charging Parts--- it happens all the time.

Unfortunately, people like me realize it right after purchasing the item. Learning the hard way is ok, as long as you help people along the way

this is the best movie i've ever seen. has a good story but a even better plot that will have you on the edge of your seat. i give 4 thumbs up!!!! Paul walker is a very good actor. he also played in joyride and he is the white boy in the fast and the furious 1 & 2.

Great Plot, A must see action, Paul Walker at his best, BUY THIS AND ENJOY. It is a sorry about a petty mobster who has a family, but screwws up. He i looking for a "hot" weapon used to kill a dirty cop and runs into a assortment of things on the way, with a ending you will not believe.

This moviw opens with the most intense sceene that I have sceene in a while. after the first 10 min. the pace slowes but not much. the movie is a maze of twists and turns that keep you on your toes. in my opp. it was the best movie this year!

IF you want a true mobster film, Running Scared is your movie. Movie is Very violent and has lots of cursing, mature audiences please. Acting was superb. The emotional response to this movie was high. I could only endure one watching, I guess I don't cut out to be a mobster.

Great movie from beginning to end! I liked this movie alot more than I thought I would. Twists and turns. Also, the behind the scenes revealed details I missed in the first viewing. I recommend this to people that like action, suspense, and an Edge in their movies.

I was going to see this at the theater when it came out but didnt cause there are so many bad movies relesed nowdays...BUT!. i was totaly surprised when me and my soon to be wife rented it a few weeks ago. what a great movie it was excellent just like the old days when movies where great and could entertain like they are supposed to. it had the best most crazy plot ive seen since pulp fiction. but it was far more entertaining than pulp fiction not that im saying it was like pulp but it was a great crazy mayhemic plot. im going to buy the dvd.

What a movie! What a twisted mess! Extremely intense, violent and almost too realistic! A must see. This movie is definitely in my top 10.

Paul Walker has not made much of a good image for himself in past movies. He has been the actor that everyone questions his skill as an actor. With the release of "Running Scared" he has succesfully put a halt to those questions. Paul Walker has hit a new high in his acting career with his role in this movie. The movie starts off with a violent gun fight resulting from a drug-bust gone bad that ends up with with a few dead police officers. In an attempt to get out of trouble Paul Walker's character is given the murder weapon to dispose of. Until he can figure out what to do with it, he hides it in his basement, thinking it will be safe. His son's best friend steals the gun, uses it to shoot his abusive step-father and takes off, evidence in hand, nowhere to be found. The movie follows as Paul Walker tries frantically to find this kid, to save his own life, all the while being closely watched by fellow gang members, AND the police. From there the movie has endless twists and turns. You never know what is going to happen next. Guaranteed you will find yourself sitting on the edge of your seat even as the credits start to roll. Paul Walker deserves major credit for playing the character so well, it will definitely be my choice as one of 2006's best DVD releases!!!!

Action from the first to the last minute. I was on a waiting list to rent this movie it was that good.....sadly I don't remember it ever hitting the theaters. I hope word of mouth gives it the credit it deserves. This movie was the bomb!!!!

I love how the story line of this movie kind of brings out Paul Walkers bad side of himself. I also could not believe how the movie was in brand new and excellent condition.

I WAS VERY SURPRISED WITH THIS MOVIE! IT WAS NOT A MOVIE I LOOKED FORWARD TO SEEING, I DID NOT GO TO THE VIDEO STORE HAVING THIS MOVIE IN MIND. I love the movie Running Scared and realized I never even bought it so looked up on ebay and found it for way under 10$.

Dang Paul, Right out of the gate there is one naughty, hot scene that made me go................wooooooooooooooo baby! Very energetic, lots of action but also very graphic and bloody scenes.

The movie started real good with action, it just dragged a little too much (very long night).
Lots of shooting and suspense.

A massive slug in your gut. Give it a few minutes and you'll be hooked, stay on for the rest of the ride and you'll be surprised, finish some of the scenes in this movie... you'll stomach will be flipped, turned over and all balled up. The raw scenes of extremely brutal violence shot so beautifully it recalls classics like Pulp Fiction and Reservoir Dogs ensure Running Scared to be fluid running through that same vein.

Loved this movie in general! Fantastic Ending and Paul Walker does a killer job in this movie! Definately a must see!

Terrific Movie You have never seen Paul Walker like this i recommend this movie if your into action flicks. One of the best action movies i've ever seen its one of my favorites.

DVD in very good condition. I recieved it in a short period of time. I will buy again from this seller.
