I know that some will argue that John Parker's classic "Once a Runner" is the best running book, but in my opinion it is second. This book follows the Colorado Buffaloe cross-country team during the course of the 1998 season. Lear, an accomplished runner himself, does a great job of bringing to life what it is like to be a competitive college runner. 1998 was Adam Goucher's senior year and year where the Buffaloes suffered a lot of adversity. It is a must read for any current or former cross-country runner.
