The Runes of the Earth by Stephen R. Donaldson (2005, Paperback, Reprint)

I bought this book because I ADORED the previous two trilogies which I read three times!) I felt that the first half of the book was not as good as the others. I was bored and felt that the story missed the "meat" of the other books. AND THEN EVERYTHING CHANGED!!!! Once I got through the first half, I couldn't put the book down. So, if you want to return to the Land once again and find this book a but sluggish, I urge you to keep going. The second half of the book is awesome! Enjoy your return to the Land.

Book one in "The FInal Chronicles of Thomas Covenant"

After nearly 10 years of living with the conclusion of "White Gold Wielder" Linden Avery is thrust back into the Land after Covenant's son Roger turns up to claim his birthright and his mother who has been in Avery's care.

In this third part to this series and what will prove to be the final three books Donaldson once again proves that he can grab a reader and entertain him.

This book is book one in this series, it is followed by Fatal Revenant, and Book three will be out in October of 2010 and will be titled "Against All Things Ending"

This is a wonderful series and readers are encouraged to start from the beginning with Lord Foul's Bane. It makes a lot more sense if you know what all the characters have done in the previous books before you read this one.

What an exciting twist to an exciting adventure/love story/fantasy series. Each book is a journey back to Lord Foul's tyranny and the eternal battle that is given by Thomas Covenant - now joined by Linden Avery. I can't wait for the next book in the series!
