Movie Description THE RULING CLASS runs the full gamut of British entertainment--beautiful costumes, fabulous sets, serial killers, witty dialogue, burlesque striptease, opera and aristocracy, romance and insanity, jealousy and drama, comedy and theology.
The house of Gurney has a family problem, namely the 14th Earl of Gurney (Peter O'Toole in a brilliant performance), who suffers from a slight messiah complex. Unfortunately, the young earl is the sole heir to the family fortune, so his relatives go to great lengths to trick the would-be savior into siring a new heir. However, the earl
has a few surprises for his greedy relations. THE RULING CLASS is a sprawling,
bursting-at-the-seams send-up of the ingrown eccentricities of the British
upper classes. With its outlandish situational dialogue, and with performers suddenly zipping out in song-and-dance routines, THE RULING CLASS is a dynamite comic triumph.
