Sensing a crisis in Yemen, the U.S. government sends Col. Terry
Childers played by Samuel L. Jackson (Jumper, Soul Men, Cleaner,
1408, etc) and a platoon of Marines to remove the U.S. ambassador
and his family from the embassy there. Childers and his men succeed
but, a gunfight ensues during the evacuation-killing 80 civilians
and some of his men. Fearing a court martial that could put him
behind bars for the rest of his life-as the military looks into the
incident- Childers looks to Col. Hayes Hodges played by Tommy Lee
Jones ( In the Electric Mist, No Country for Old Men, In the Valley
of Elah, The Hunted, etc) to defend him in court against the charges
that are being prepared. The director here is William Friedkin and
he has not had a big hit in many years (The Exorcist, The French
Connection, Bug, The Hunted, etc) on the big screen. However, the
two real good movies that he has put out are this one and The Hunted
-and both star Tommmy Lee Jones. He has also done excellent work on
Tv-with his latest efforts being the directing of Season 8 of CSI
(the original CSI). He again teams with Jones here-and with Jackson-
they bring a real life scenerio to the movie-with plenty of action
as the Marines engage terrorists to protect themselves and then the
court action that ensues - as politicians and people that were not
on the scene attempt to put something into the fight that was not there
to begin with. A great and suspenseful movie as Jones goes to Yemen
to find out the true facts and the court action that follows his findings.
If you like Drama, action and courtroom intrigue-you will certainly find
that this movie will give you a full night of entertainment and enjoyment.
