Fascinating Account of a Travesty in Justice
J. Robert Oppenheimer was key to developing nuclear fission, nuclear power, and the nuclear bomb. Like all new ventures in humanity's history, it was only after he had traversed nuclear fission's developmental road that he also saw the bad side to the good he was trying to uncover. In this case, his wisdom and intellect allowed him to realize the gravity of the bad that he was helping to birth. As such, he wanted to stop development, or at least put severe limits on how it was to be developed and used. At that point, the "machine" that had employed him rose up to destroy him... not just to destroy J. Robert Oppenheimer the nuclear scientist, but J. Robert Oppenheimer the man, the academic, the professional. If you have an interest in this field, this is a fascinating book to read.
