Book review: Round Robin by Chiaverini: Elm Creek Quilt
2 of 5 people found this review helpful.
Round Robin Quilts, as referenced in the title, are quilts created by sewing concentric patchwork to a central block as it is passed around a circle of friends.
In this story, some of the Elm Creek quilters face and share a personal crisis, a painful truth or a life-changing choice as they work on their round robin quilt. "As each woman confronts a personal crisis, a painful truth, or a life-changing choice, the quilt serves as a symbol of the complex and enduring bonds between mothers and daughters, sisters and friends. In weaving together the harmonious, disparate pieces of their crazy-quilt lives, the Elm Creek Quilters come to realize that friendship is one of the most precious gifts we can give each other, and that love can strengthen understanding, lead to new beginnings, and illuminate our lives."
This book is a very quick, easy, light read. Those that love quilting or anyone that loves books with "relationships" intertwined into a soft story (no violence, lust, strong language) will certainly enjoy this book. Or any of Jennifer Chiaverini's books, for that matter. (If you've found this review helpful, please vote YES below. Enjoy! shepherd42)
