Movie Description ROSAS BLANCAS PARA MI HERMANA NEGRA is a vintage slice of melodrama from Mexico's golden age of cinema. Directed by Abel Salazar, the film centers around a racist singer named Laura (Libertad Lamarque), who nonetheless shares a lifelong friendship with a black woman, Angustias (Eusebia Cosme). When Laura's daughter falls in love with Angustias's son, the relationship brings long-simmering emotions to a boiling point that triggers a series of tragic, but ultimately cathartic, events. Following in the tradition of Douglas Sirk's IMITATION OF LIFE, the Mexican classic is presented in Spanish without subtitles.
