Honestly, this is my favorite book! Contained within its 409 pages is a complete history of the development and meaning of the rosary. This book eloquently relates theology, sacred art, linguistics and biblical anthropology to the use of a frequently misunderstood form of prayer: the rosary.
Not only does Dr Johnson investigate the development of the rosary (which includes such things as saying prayers while counting pebbles and the progression of how the prayers were chosen) but he also analizes the meaning of the prayers used and of each of the mysterys that are reflected on.
Now you might think that this would be a difficult book to read. WRONG! Comfortably focused around the nuances of our time, Dr Johnson has a smooth flow to his writting. It is truly a joy to read and think about this book. I enjoyed it so much that I purchased two other books by Kevin Orlin Johnson: WHY DO CATHOLICS DO THAT? and APPARITIONS. You will enjoy reading ROSARY!
