Seen the collectors edition of the Roots mini series several times, decided to get the book. The book is supurb! Covers several things the mini series omits. Alex Haley was a masterful writer! Roots is a book that makes it very very difficult for the reader to put down. A definate must have book for any library!

I could barely put this book away, I enjoyed it so much. Excellent documentation and story. Anyone who wants to record their own family history needs to read this book! But more significantly, the book captures a people and a topic, namely slavery, that needed to be addressed. Finding your own family history, and feeling pride for those ancestors, can cure the ills of your own heart like no other medication.

I was very happy with what I got. I was worth the wait, but the wait wasn't

It was a Christmas present for a colleague at school where I teach.I am hopeful to get the complete set for him at a reasonable price to go with it.

I am a big fan of the miniseries and wanted a copy of the book for my personal collection. I was not concerned whether or not it was signed. This book represents a tremendous amount of research and brings American history to life as other books are not able to do. Alex Haley is able to put the reader right onto the slave ship, Colonial American plantations, journey into freedom, and back to Africa as no other author can. I have not read the entire book yet, but plan to. It is a book that should be in every personal library collection whether you have just a paper book copy or hard cover. It's the American classic of our time!

I just love the movie. I love the old generation I love the story of the new generation. I can spend all day and night wathching the complete series. I've wanted to read the novel since i was a young girl. I thought it was so long and hard. now that I'm older its not as hard of a reading as I thought. I wanted to read the book because I know the book has more information. So now I'm reading it and so far I'm very very pleased. I know there is going to be some information that isn't in the book and that is going to help me understand the movie alot more. I'm oh so satisfied!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello to All....I decided to purchase "Roots" by Alex Haley because of my high school son was discussing and watching some of the movie in his Modern World History class. He came home one day and stated, "Mom", I am surprised that you do not have this book. Considering that I, myself have a decent book collection, I did not have this one. Very disappointed and discouraged, I started my research through the internet. Frustrated and about to give up, I finally decided to use eBay. This is the best website for everything. I purchase 3 hard covers and 1 paperback of Roots for my 2 sons. The paperback book was a very cheap price, and an extra one for my Library. To my surprise 3 weeks ago, when I was cleaning and dusting my Moms apartment, I discovered that she has one on her bookshelf. Who would have ever known, that my Mother or I own this book, long before I left home. Starting this month, April 2007, TV One network will show "ROOTS" starting Easter Sunday. And as of May 22, 2007, The 30th Anniversary 7-piece Special Edition DVD collection will be available of Roots. Thank you eBay sellers for having this wonderful and amazing book for me to purchase. The prices are outstanding and very reasonable. I will forever be grateful to eBay website for allowing great people to grant my wish and make my dreams come true. I am looking forward to always searching anything I want with eBay. This could start out to be an addiction, but a very good one that I trust.
