The Rolling Stones - 25 x 5: The Continuing Adventures of the Rolling Stones (VHS, 1990)

There are no words powerful enough to describe how valuable and generous this docu/music video is.Add to that how many years being a Rolling Stones fan has been ingrained in me.I remember the 60's& the yearning to soak in anything relating to London even if it was only going to any store at night with mom & looking at the Yardley packages.This Stones/Brit invasion early yrs. is constructed so seamlessly together that it's like an actor who acts so well that it seems to be not acting but totally natural.I can't conceive of how many hours of work went into this. Mick Jagger's beautiful enduring intelligence, Charlie Watts' solid,unchanging modesty.It's as though they must have determined to use this in answer for grateful appreciation of decades worth of fan mail that they regretted that they couldn't individually respond to. I can't think of anything that they left out& they included so many human, personal aspects that it amazes me. I love so much of their music and personas so these glimpses of how they really are is a source of encouragement to me.Have loved their songs for so many yrs.& not just their most requested.Fantasized since childhood wanting to make movies with their songs as backdrop-as in several Scorsese movies since then.Can't You Hear Me Knocking? Monkey Man, No Expectations, Moonlight Mile.Listen to Metamorphosis if you haven't heard it,especially I Don't Know Why I Love You(I Don't Know Why)
Their ups,the slights, the down times with the end results up until '89-Between a Rock and a Hard Place and Keith's beyond this world beautiful Slipping Away.Yes,there's been more since 1989,so this isn't the whole story but it's an extreme case of endurance and still surpassing.For me,this is one of the most outstanding collections of footage EVER assembled.Thank you so much for all of your contributions to culture during my lifetime Stones. This work affirms to me that you guys were always as genuine as I thought and you couldn't have done a better job than this at reciprocating,showing your love and appreciation for us as your fans.
