IntroductionThe Rockford Files Season One brings the complete 1974 season of James Garner's highly-acclaimed detective series to dvd. This Emmy-award winning television series ran for six years starting in the Fall of 1974 and came from the genius of Stephen J. Cannell.
Detailed DescriptionGarner plays a private eye anti-hero everyman who lives in a trailer in Malibu, keeps his gun in a cookie jar, and isn't afraid to let it be known that he hates a good fight - especially if he's in the center of it. Many of the episodes involve Jim Rockford taking a case from a down-on-his-luck client who can't afford the private eye's rates, and then concocting a scheme involving Rockford to use a made-up identity (he carried a small business-card printing press in his car!) in order to trick people into giving him information that he wouldn't otherwise be privy to. The supporting cast includes Noah Beery, Jr. as Rocky, Jim's lovable but sometimes ornery retired dad; Joe Santos as Dennis Becker, a friend who just happens to be a sargeant at LAPD but isn't too anxious to give out information from the department's files; and Stuart Margolin as Angel, an ex-con con artist who's only interested in lining his pockets with someone else's money and then when trouble arrives, concentrating on saving his own hide.
Additional InformationThis colorful box set gives a small summary of each episode contained in the 3-dvd set. Each dvd is double-sided and is contained in its own plastic clamshell case.
SummaryPicture and sound quality are both extraordinary. And the scripts, acting, casting, directing and music are above first rate. This is one of the best series to ever hit television, and now, dvd.
