Rockferry by Duffy (Welsh) (CD, May-2008, Mercury)

I came across Duffy quite by accident. I was channel surfing and there she was, singin' her little heart out, and mercy me! (pun intended), I was gobsmacked! I immediately bought the single/video for my iPod and showed it to my daughters and they liked it as well. After listening to the entire CD, one of my daughters said I would like the rest of Duffy's music, so I bought it. I liked it enough, but it took a couple of times through before absolutely falling in love with it. I especially felt a connection after watching a few interviews with her where she shared the meaning and inspiration that went into writing the words to her songs.

Duffy's sound is reminiscent of the oldies but with a modern twist. Her music is heartfelt, soulful, and the words so true-to-life's struggles and conquests. Duffy's music touches me in a way that no other artist has been able to in a long while. Her music has been in my head every day for weeks now and every music player in and out of our home has gotten a workout playing it. I highly recommend Duffy's "Rockferry" and think you will be pleasantly surprised. I can't wait for her to go on tour!
