Rockferry by Duffy (Welsh) (CD, May-2008, Mercury)

Like "Mercy" a lot, the other songs grow on you. It's obvious why she is being compared to Dusty Springfield.

Just a really good CD. Duffy has a great voice, and sings great songs mostly written or co-written herself.

This girl is absolutely amazing! Her voice is amazing and I would recommend this CD to anyone! Reminiscent of a 60's girl group, but this girl can pull it off all by herself.

This is one of the best female singers to come a long in our time. She is fresh but has an old soul. She has a strong versitile voice. She has a broas range of music. She is a treat to watch perform and I hope she puts some more material our soon. This is great find in an age where big corporations are telling the masses what the people are supposed to listen to. Here is a becon in a sea of mediocrity. Buy this album!

Duffy just won a prestigious award in Britain and it certainly is well earned for her CD Rockferry. She has a lovely voice very much reminding me of 60's singers like Dusty Springfield. Her music is very lovely with clear words and a terrific wall of sound on some songs.

Those of you who had the fortune to grow up during the 60's remember such wonderful female singers such as Marianne Faithfull, Cilla Black, Mary Hopkin, Petula Clark and Dusty Springfield. These were all great singers and could provide an excellent interpretation to the songs they were singing. Well Duffy is up there with the best of them. She has this voice very reminicent of Dusty Springfield and the arrangements to the songs evoke that era. Moreover, the present day recording technics don't interfere with transmitting that vibe and aura from the period. You will not be disappointed with this CD. All the songs are great! Can't wait for her next production.

GREAT NEW ARTIST - FANTASTIC CD. Duffy's voice is in a league of it's own and really separates her from any other female artist I've listened to.
This CD makes for a very pleasurable listening experience!!

If you've only heard "Mercy", you're missing out. "Mercy" may be one of the weaker tracks on the album. Duffy may not be in the same vocal class as Adele or Amy Winehouse, but makes up for it with well-written songs with great arrangements. Many of the songs sound like they could have been pulled from the Stax or Motown catalog from the 60's. A very enjoyable listen!

this young lady can do things with her voice that i have never heard before. i can not wait for her to do more albums

This CD is Awesome. Reminds me of the days when Olivia Newton John and Abba were big. Great buy for anyone who likes to feel happy :)

All I can say is I love her voice. There are a couple of songs that I'm not so fond of but over all I really enjoy this CD. Would I buy it again? You bet!

I bought the CD for the song "Mercy", but there are so many other good songs on this CD - I'm glad I bought it. I brought it to work, and everybody loved it as well - some songs actually had us dancing at our desks, and most of us there hate out jobs, so that's a pretty incredible testimony to the power of this CD and Duffy - it makes me feel like I'm listening to a cross between a '50's, 60's throwback but with a mature, modern edge. I'm 41 and my coworkers ages vary between 30's and 60's, so I think it's a good CD choice for just about any age - hardcore rockers probably won't ADMIT they like it, but for those who just like good music, get it....you'll be happy with it.

I liked one of the songs ,but found several more good tunes.My husband makes fun of me when i play it though as she's quite young (unlike myself!)

I heard the song "Mercy" on the radio and loved it. I decided to get the CD and I am really enjoying it. Every song is great. Duffy has such a unique sound and this CD is one that I've suggested that my friends get.

This CD is a great body of work that encompasses story-telling --- Duffy is the new LuLu, (who sang the title song "To Sir, With Love" for the movie of the same name), for those of you too young to know who LuLu is. Her cut "Mercy" is soulful, upbeat and has been frequently used in various advertisements.Duffy has not quite made her mark yet, but she is on her way!

I ordered this CD because I liked one particular song,"Mercy."However,I found I just love all the other songs as well.Duffy has such a beautiful voice.I am 54 and you would think because of my age I wouldn't care for this type of music but to my amazement I really give it a thumbs up all the way.Thank's for asking,Sandra

Duffy has a unique voice and a style all her own. She is the soulful version of petula clark. The album takes you back to the 60's in all od its "Mod" fashion. Looking for a great album? Take a listen to Rockferry.

Old guy who listens to classic rock. Heard "Mercy" by Duffy on the So You Think You Can Dance Show. Never heard of Duffy but went to imeem.com to check her out and then bought the CD immediately. Wonderful rich voice with incredible control. The accompanying music could be a tad bit better but the songs and her voice make this one of my all time favorites. I think "Mercy" is the hit off of this album but "Serious" and "Dreamer" should be at Number One in the charts as well as the Album Title Song "Rockferry". This young girl is going to have a great career which will be to all of our benefit.

This Cd is Great!! I heard her song "Mercy" on You Tube and loved it. I could not find her CD in the store but found plenty on EBAY. Check her out on You Tube!

Very good CD; almost all songs are enjoyable. Duffy is a very different artist than I usually listen to but I saw her perform on Saturday Night Live and bought her CD immediately.

Considering where it was coming from, it was a fast delivery, It's a great CD, easy to listen to, I enjoy her voice. Just love her singing.
