Rocket Science (DVD, 2008)

This movie is great for anyone who has ever felt awkward about speaking. It's also a crazy little story about falling in love and it all goes to crap. Ending kind of left you hanging but I guess that's how life is.

As a debate coach, I've been looking for debate documentaries/movies. The best I've found is "Resolved" which airs about once or twice a month on HBO. Rocket Science is an OK show for my class since it is a story that pivots on policy debate (in New Jersey), though isn't necessarily about debate per se. The main female character is a riot since she rapid fires during normal conversations. However, it's R for language, so I keep a list of about 10 or 12 of the places of totally unnecessary filth that I have to mute--and one place I have to jump ahead where Kama Sutra pics are shown. All in all, the students love it, and the premise, about a boy with a stutter who wants to join the debate team to impress a girl, is pretty clever.

My daughter was thrilled that I bought it for her, I gave it to her for a birthday gift after I had overheard her say she wanted it.

This independent film will remind you of Juno's teenage authenticity mixed in with Superbad's teenage angst. It's a poignant tale about a kid with a stutter who attempts to win over a girl by succeeding on the debate team. The comedy is intelligent and the storyline will touch your soul.

This is a great, quirky movie about real people behaving badly. I found it completely entertaining from beginning to end. My son was in speech and debate.

I like the fact that it was sent ASAP and I received the Movie in Tip-top condition. I would buy form him again.

Great Movie! It was fun to watch. If you enjoyed "Spellbound" or similar, you will like this story. Suitable for family viewing, too.

Great movie! charming story, witty, smart, and entertaining.
Plus i know one of the minor characters, so it exciting to watch a friend on film.
You can't go wrong with at least renting this one.
