As an ex-NASA rocket scientist and engineer, I found Hickam's book thoroughly entertaining. I read the book before seeing the film, and enjoyed both, but the book will keep you turning pages for a longer while, and provide many anecdotes not in the movie. Probably more interesting to lads than many lasses, but a great read for adolescents and adults of all ages.

Rocket Boys
) This was hands down one of the greatest books I have ever had the pleasure to read. I bought it after seeing the movie because the story drew me in like no story ever has. I was inspired by the drive the boys in the story displayed as they would not take no for an answer. The tension between a coming of age boy versus his fathers plans for him was riveting. I laughed out loud and cried throughout this book. It should be required reading for all high school age teens from coast to coast. It is an truly an American story written as times were changing rapidly for all of the country. I would recommend this story to any person who wanted to know how this great country we lived in was created. Buy this book for your whole family to read. 5 Star rating. It inspired me to purchase several more books by Hower Hickam Jr.
