OK FPS, great for fans!

To start off with, I bought this title having seen the TV series and read all the books, so it piqued my curiosity to see a ROBOTECH game based around the Invid Invasion; this is the kind of thing I'd been waiting a decade to play. I didn't feel let down by the game; I felt like it stayed pretty true to the feel of the series and the evolution of the story was believable.
I loved being able to assume the role of a freedom fighter against the Invid, and piloting a Cyclone was a big plus. I think the weapons were pretty cool, and all from the stories or series, but I would have liked to see more of them (as in a greater variety). The number and type of enemy were rather limited (due to constraints from the story I guess) but still provided plenty of challenge. The puzzles in this weren't too hard, or too confusing, and gameplay remained largely linear, which was nice. The sound effects and music in the game were great, A+! The visual effects were very good, B+.
The biggest issue I had with the game was that the HUD was constantly in the way of the view. I think the designers wanted to emulate what it might look like from the inside of a helmet, but the effect was poor and caused limited visibility. If I had a wish list for the game, I would have liked it to be a bit longer, and included some varience like piloting an Alpha fighter (or Beta) and more in-depth interactions with the civilians and other NPCs.
Overall, I thought this game deserved a rating of good, and I'd love to see a better developed sequel!
