Album Notes Original songs composed by Elton John and Tim Rice. Original score composed by Hans Zimmer and John Powell. Producers: Patrick Leonard, Hans Zimmer, Gavin Greenway. THE ROAD TO EL DORADO finds Sir Elton John, Tim Rice, and Hans Zimmer reunited for their first major animated soundtrack project since 1994's The Lion King. This soundtrack is quite a bit different from most, as nearly all of the songs were written exclusively for the film. But these strong songs could certainly stand on their own. John performs five songs solo, including the title track, while Randy Newman joins him for the duet "It's Tough to be a God." The video for "The Road to El Dorado" is a must-see for Sir Elton's fans, as John literally gets animated. EL DORADO's other gems include "The Panic in Me," "My Heart Dances," and "Friends Never Say Goodbye." John, Rice, and Zimmer, together again. Could you ask for anything more?
Editorial Reviews 3 stars out of 5 - ...melt-in-your-mouth pop confections....representing further proof that master craftsmanship goes a long way... Rolling Stone (04/13/2000)
...[John] adds pep to his performance and dash to the melodies. EL DORADO benefits most...from the words of Tim Rice...representing the lyricist's jauntiest, most taut work to date....a cartoon soundtrack that doesn't dumb things down. - Rating: B Entertainment Weekly (03/17/2000)
