This is the 4th film in the hilarious "Road..." series of classics.

When a wealthy elderly couple is visited by Duke Johnson (Bing Crosby), an old friend they thought was dead & haven't seen in 35 years, Johnson recounts this story of his earlier adventure:

During the Alaska 'gold rush', in the US around 1900, Duke & his vaudeville performance partner, Chester Hooton (Bob Hope), are run out of town after a pair of murderous thieves, Sperry (Robert Barrat) & McGurk (Nestor Paiva), scramble onstage with police giving chase & expose Duke & Chester as charlatans.

Sperry & McGurk killed a man in order to steal a map to the gold mine Sal Van Heusen (Dorothy Lamour) owns. Sal comes to Skagway, Alaska to get help from one of her father's friends, a saloon owner who's become corrupt, Ace Larson (Douglas Dumbrille).

Duke & Chester stowaway onboard an Alaska-bound ship with hopes of stealing the map to the mine that's hidden in Sperry & McGurk's berth; then, cashing in on some gold. Duke & Chester escape disguised as Sperry & McGurk, leaving the real villains tied up on the ship.

The townspeople of Skagway await in terror for the murderers to come back to the saloon. Ace has a scheme to swindle Sal out of her mine, with the help of his girlfriend Kate (Hillary Brooke) & his business partner LeBec (Jack LaRue). In order to keep her under his control, Ace hired Sal to sing in his saloon.

Believing they're Sperry & McGurk, Sal seduces Duke & Chester while LeBec takes off with Duke's half of the map. Ace, Kate & LeBec travel by dog sled to the frozen North in search of the mine. Biting Ace's bait, Duke & Chester follow & rescue Kate in the snow.

After Sal arrives she stays with the others in a cabin. Collaborating with Kate, both women get Chester's half of the map from his undershirt. But something unexpected happens: Sal falls in love with Duke. After telling Sal who he really is, she confides that she owns the mine. However, Kate cleverly convinces Sal she can save Duke's life by getting the map to Ace. So, Sal steals it & flees with Kate.

Then, Sperry & McGurk show up. Once again, Duke & Chester escape & head back to Skagway. Since the townspeople are prepared to hang Sperry & McGurk, Duke & Chester have to get by them & do. In the meantime, Ace, LeBec, Kate & Sal return to Skagway. Once there, Sal reveals she's in love with one of the
"wanted" men & went along with Ace's plot to save him.

After making her confession, Sal's bound; Duke & Chester break into Ace's safe, steal the map, rescue Sal & blow up the saloon after Sperry & McGurk return to it. Ace's thugs chase Duke, Chester & Sal to the North Pole. Suddenly, the ice breaks apart, leaving Sal & Chester on one side & Duke on the other. Duke tosses the map to them, then faces Ace's thugs. 35 years afterwards, Duke meets the grown son of Chester & Sal who looks just like Duke. Chester claims they adopted him.

Hal Walker directs this action-packed comedy with Robert Benchley providing the narration~
