Road to Perdition (DVD, 2003, Widescreen)

A well written movie infused with excellent acting and seamless cinematography; a feat very hard to accomplish. This exciting yet heart wenching tale about love, loyalty, and fear is actually based on a genius comic book brought to life. This movie is truly a classic that will be studied by the industry for many years to come.

I don't know how this movie didn't go bigger!? I bought it off eBay for around $4 after s&h, and I'm very happy with it.
Tom Hanks stars as a hitman. When one of Hank's sons curiously follows him one night while Hanks is "running an errand" he finds his father's a hitman. The boy is spotted by Hanks and a fellow hitman. When the mafia finds out about the whole incident, they want Hank's whole family dead!!! This puts Hanks on the Road to Perdition(a town) trying to protect what he has left of his family while wiping out his former mafia 1 by 1. And you better watch out as Jude Law who plays an incredibly freaky photographer who "shoots the dead"
This movie is honestly the best movie I've bought on here, dollar for dollar.
The movie is set in like the 20's or 30's er so, so everything's very old fashioned which is pretty neat I think. Let's cut to the chase, I'd highly recommend this movie to any action movie fan.

Purchased this movie because of the cast and the fact that part of it was filmed in my home town. I was very disappointed. The acting was okay, but the story line was idiotic - trying to make a murderer seem human and expecting the viewer to view him as some sort of hero. I hated the violence and especially hated to see a child involved in a life like this. The "happy ending" concept after the child saw his father murdered is a joke. No way can there be a happy ending to this movie!

great guy movie. I would recomend for anyone who likes the olg gangster movies. Tom Hanks really out did himself in this one.

I have seen this movie before. Although it does lack action in some places, the plot was great. Tom hanks is great in this movie.

This movie is another classic from Tom Hanks. Hanks has starred in many classics, like the green mile, Saving Pvt. Ryan, etc... I bought this movie because Hanks was in it, and it is about a 1930's mobster. I highly recommend this movie to any movie go'er. this movie can't be beat, it is emotionally moving and extremely well put together. Also starring is Paul Newman in his last film - you'll find some irony in this when you watch the movie.

great movie! clear picture and dvd in perfect condition. Tom Hanks did an amazing job playing different roles (gangster, beloved father and son)

But I was wrong..this is a fantastic movie..Tom Hanks plays a quiet hit man who has a conscience..when he's sent on a hit his Son curious as to what his dad does for a living hops on board for the ride he sees more then he's suppose to..afraid his son will talk the Mob Boss' son orders a hit on the entire family..the hitman kills the Mother and youngest Son afraid for his oldest Sons safety Hanks packs them both up and hits the road..deciding to take his Son to his dead wifes sister in "Perdition" he does what he has to to ensure his Sons survival..this film starts out good and ends on a sad note..Hanks is great as the quiet nicely dressed hitman. Jude Law will freak you out as the creepy photographer with an agenda..I give this film 5 out of 5 bars!

Great movie! The cast alone is pretty impressive with Tom Hanks, Paul Newman, and Daniel Craig. The plot line always keeps you going and the scenes are amazing. After a mob member's son witnesses a murder by his own father, the father has to protect his son from the other members. Great action and intense movie, must see.

Tom Hanks, Paul Newman, Jude Law, and Daniel Craig? This movie is a terrific drama of a hitman and his son in the 1930's and how things get messed up. A stong cast and a great script. It is violent and depicts it. Enjoy!!!

Very good movie. Good performance for Tom Hanks. Different kind of part for Tom Hanks, but he was believable and good in this movie. Very interesting, keeps your interest.

I thought the plot, writing and acting were superb. Nice to see Tom Hanks take on a role of a character who is more than just a little tarnished.

Originally bought as a gift for someone, we need to buy one for ourselves. Of gangster movies, this one had more humanity in it, showing a different side of "the business". Tom Hanks and Paul Newman both put out memorable performances.

I purchased this DVD because I enjoy Tom Hanks. This movie kept me intrigued throughout, I was impressed; from the making of the movie, the acting and the interpretation given of the era. All in all leaves me utterly speachless. I am sure that I have friends that would not think the same as I do, but I will still insist that this is as good as a movie can get, and suspensful to the end.

I bought this movie because I like Tom Hanks. His role this time is certainly different from his usual 'good guy' roles. My husband, who usually dislikes what he calls 'heavy' movies, enjoyed this one also. There is a lot of killing and blood. But the action supports the plot; it is not the whole plot. I recommend this movie, but be aware of the violence if you plan to let kids see it. It does have a child character, which might make children think it is a movie for them.

Being from Chicago, I enjoyed some of the local scenery. The acting was superb and the story gave a different slant to familiar themes and times. It is a keeper. One will want to see it again.

Tom Hanks does a great job in a different role for him in a gangster movie that is also a father and son story. Great production and great performances from the high powered cast give the film a wonderful atmoshpere and quality. Jude Law is actually scarier that he normally is and Paul Newman's presence onscreen is still powerful.
