Rising * by Great White (CD, Apr-2009, Shrapnel)

I purchased this the day of its release because I have always been a fan of Great White going back to my teenage years and let me tell you this, I think this is perhaps the finest studio effort that they've ever put forth! Racking up the hits through the late 80's and into the 90's, Great White has always had a unique sound that when you hear it, its unmistakable and undeniably Jack Russell and the band jamming in your ear! Well let me tell you the boys have really grown into this one quite nicely. You still get the traditional flavor, the great beat, flawless and catchy lyrics but now, due to their years of experience they have come up with a new release that is very relaxed, even a bit subdued and reflective in spots (no, that's actually a good thing folks!) while still reminding you of what made them such a huge and popular band right from the start. Areas of this cd could almost be categorized as 'bluesy', yet other tracks in other spots on the disk are the traditional mainstay (that made them so good from the beginning) of driving rhythmic, let me tell you a story rock n roll. I'd highly suggest you buy this, trust me you won't regret it for a moment!

Loved everything about. Another great bluesy ballsy rock cd from the great Great White. Jack Russell still sound like he did from the early days. Yeah this is a little mellower record, but damn good production values and you can make sweet love to this music.

The new release is a great album. I hope they tour this year on this album, it would be nice to see them back. Album is all good with 3/4 great, 5 star type songs. Definitely what you would expect from Great White.
