Rio Bravo, one of a trilogy of movies (along with El Dorado and Rio Lobo) written by Leigh Brackett, produced by Howard Hawks, and staring John Wayne. Each has the same basic plot with just the actors and setting changed. In this one, Wayne as Sheriff John T Chance, aided by a drunken deputy (Dean Martin), a crippled jailer (Walter Brennan), and the son of a tough lawman (Ricky Nelson) fight to keep a prisoner locked up till the judge can arrive. Angie Dickinson provides a romantic interest for Wayne. In a departure from other Wayne films, the principal actors get together in a sing along including Wayne, something he hasn't done since his very early days in westerns. The storyline, while repetative, is a tried and successful one. The actors mesh well and give fine performances. All in all, not a bad way to spend an hour and a half or so.

My 2 sons (7 & 9) LOVE John Wayne, and this movie with Walter Brennan, is a grand slam. One of my favorie JW movies.

Fantastic movie by a great director(Howard Hawks), established stars(John Wayne,Dean Martin Walter Brennan), and add some newcomers(Ricky Nelson,Angie Dickinson)--one of the best westerns ever made.A great example of how the right combination of director and stars can make a regular story into a classic movie.The only reason it dosen't get 5 stars is that there are no extras(documentary,interviews)

I like this movie very much. It has alot of action. I love the stars in it. Especially Ricky Nelson. I love his singing in this film. I would recommend it for any Nelson fan, or John Wayne fan. It's worth seeing!

This is my favorite Western. Packed with bad guys, good guys, and the girl that hooks up with the Sheriff. John Wayne, Walter Brennan, Dean Martin, and teen idol Ricky Nelson will keep you attached to the screen until the movie is over. Ricky Nelson and Dean Martin in a duet after the sun sets, kicked back singing one of Ricky Nelson's teen songs.
Highly recommended movie that should be added to any movie collection. John Wayne in one of his best leading roles as Sheriff that has to protect a killer in the jail until the Marshall comes.

This has always been one of my favorite John Wayne movies. Dean Martin and Ricky Nelson give great performances for singers and then add the incompatible Walter Brennan. The scene in the jail with the them singing is great. Then you add the beautiful Angie Dickinson and there you have it. A great movie with all the parts, a little action, a little romance, a little singing and of course John Wayne.

i realize western lots of time have to have killings but what i disliked was the killing of the wagon master, the friend of the sheriff. what i enjoyed the most was the scene of walter brennon and the sticks of dymonite. The singing and the way all the actors made the movie believable. every detail and the music made the movie believable, like it really was that time and that place and that situation. the reason for purchased changed. i found i had one and i didn't know i had it so it gave me the opportunity to give this movie as a gift to a special aunt of ours. Joy, spreading joy. excellent movie. can recommend to anyone without reservation.

Absoluely GREAT, I COULDN"T ASK FOR BETTER QUALITY!!!!!SUPER FAST SHIPPING, GREAT PACKING AND BRAND NEW SEALED MOVIES, NOT BOOTLEGED COPIES, LOOKS LIKE A NEWER MOVIE LIKE ONE THAT JUST CAME OUT ON DISC, BUT THIS MOVIE HAS BEEN AROUND FOR A LONG TIME (1950's). Rio BravoThe best scene is where Ricky Nelson and Dean Martin sing together; "My Rifle my Pony and Me" and Cindy Cindy. The first song's melody comes from the song "Settle Down" by Dimitri Tiomkin first used in Red River. "Cindy" is an old folk song from the Civil War era, as best as I could find out. Nelson released it on .45. It's a must for Duke's fans.

Rio BravoI have a great collection of John Wayne DVD's and I have been looking for Rio Bravo for sell at store locations. When I found this dvd I purchase it and it came just as described, new and in a sealed box. Watched it several times already and I am still not burnt out on it.

Great westernThis is one of my favorite movies. John Wayne, Dean Martin, Walter Brennon, ricky Nelson and Angie Dickinson. Great acting, good plot and lots of fun. A rare duet with Ricky and Dean. There hasn't been another movie as good as this in along time!

One of the Westerns ever made, with an all star cast.
) I have always been a big John Wayne fan. What I like best about this movie is the sheriff is man enough to take care of his problems by himself and not go around begging the towns people for help like in High Noon. I would rather watch a movie like this then what they put out these days. It has an all star cast that works well together. It has a good story line that is easy to follow and no special effects to spoil it.

It is one of the best produced westerns of all time. There is no dialog for the first part of the movie. It is all explained by the acting. Walter Brennen is great and no matter how many times you see it you will laugh out loud. The picture quality on the DVD is excellent.

Have always been a "Duke" fan, especially his western. This is one of his classics, and I watch it whenever it is on TV. Saw if up for auction and thought why not, so I bought it. Now I find myself buying other Duke DVD's.
