Movie Description
This two-pack contains the wildly popular American version of THE RING, and its blockbuster sequel.

THE RING: In Gore Verbinski's remake of Hideo Nakata's chilling horror film, a group of teenagers all die suddenly and inexplicably exactly one week after watching a mysterious videotape filled with surreal imagery. Journalist Rachel Keller (Naomi Watts), a relative of one of the victims, begins an investigation that involves watching the tape, and thus giving her only seven days to live. As the clock ticks away, Rachel enlists the help of her former boyfriend, Noah (Martin Henderson), who is the father of her young and strangely intuitive son. The original RING, based on a novel by Kôji Suzuki, was a cult phenomenon in Japan, spawning a sequel, a prequel, and other spin-offs. Although Verbinski's adaptation shares much in common with its Japanese counterpart, the director distinctly alters numerous plot elements and, in grandiose Hollywood style, employs a much larger budget. Beautiful cinematography paired with Watts's star performance puts THE RING a clear cut above most contemporary horror films. Offering genuine chills, the film will make viewers think twice before watching any unmarked videotapes.

THE RING TWO: In this horror sequel from Japanese master Hideo Nakata, the curse of the videotape returns. Rachel Keller (Watts) and her son Aiden (David Dorfman) move from Seattle to Oregon in an attempt tortured evil spirit Samara. Attempting to make a fresh start, Rachel takes a job as a crime reporter at the local newspaper, instantly establishing a pluckily competitive friendship with colleague Max Rourke (Simon Baker). But when it turns out Samara (Kelly Stables) has followed their trail, taking out innocent teens along the way with her old videotape tricks, Rachel dives right back into the mystery. When Samara gets to Aiden first, the young budding photographer finds his own way to harness the relentless ghost. This time, along with the familiar video imagery and spooky clues from the first film, there is a lot of flooding going on. Water pours from television sets, doorways, and especially bathtubs. In addition, there are special effects involving some undead deer who, like Samara, seem to want respite for their wrongful deaths.
