An insight to the Republic B-westerns of the 1930s
I like some of the 3 Mesquiteer B western series. I have never seen this particular film but read it was about the best of the series with Livingston, Corrigan and Terhune. The movie had a nice gritty, grainly feeling. The print is watchable and the sound is ok. I expected more from this film after reading other reviews on this. The story line just seemed oddly choppy to me. So far with these actors, HIT THE SADDLE would be my best choice. I would also keep an eye out on AMC cable station network for the features of this series that had John Wayne made in 1938. The prints and sound are equisite looking like they were filmed yesterday. RED RIVER RANGE, THE NIGHT RIDERS, PALS OF THE SADDLE are three to look for.
