Richard Strauss: Die Frau Ohne Schatten (DVD, 2002)

This is the dvd version of the older video tape, thus having improved audio and video. It is an excellent uncut performance of this under appreciated masterpiece. This recording has the usual defect of commercial operatic recordings/videos of unrealistically over-emphasisizing the voices at the expense of the orchestration. While it is true that great operatic performances must have wonderful singing, and that must clearly project, much orchestral detail, so important in an opera like this, is either inaudible or barely audible.
