Revolution by George Barna

Anyone interested in statistics regarding the Christian church cannot help but be drawn to the work of Barna. His research statistics are both shocking and probably accurate. I find his statistics useful. What I am not wholeheartedly in agreement with is the conclusions he draws. I think he accurately describes the NUMBER of young people who are turning away from the mega-church model for worship. What I do not agree with is that the paradigm which they have chosen is for the nobelist of reasons. I'm not convinced that those who reject the established traditional church are on a quest for a spiritual "revolution". It may be as simple as they are seeking a guilt-free, responsibility free, blood free, debt free answer to religion, where they can sip coffee, listen to a bit of music, laugh a bit with friends, and call it a day. I do not believe that the emergent model, or the home church model is workable, because it is a closed system, by invitation only, for the most part. As these young people advance into parenthood, middle and old age, I believe they'll be seeking out a facility which will enable them to separate out from their children, and have the children physically located in a place where they can also be taught.
Thought provoking, but not conclusive in his assumptions.
