Publisher's Note
In 1905 the U.S. government returned to the former Confederate States over 500 flags captured during the Civil War. An obscure Southern railroad presented a 60-page souvenir, with 71 color lithographs of the flags as they were in 1905, to all Confederate veterans at their reunion. This rare book has never been reprinted -- until now. Included is the government's inventory of all flags, containing all the information it could find on their background.
