The reaosn I bought a GameCube

Let me just start off by saying that I am a HUGE Resident Evil fan. So when I heard that Copcom would only be making Resident Evil games for the gamecube, I went out and bought a gamecube. I am so glad that I did! This game is excellent, well worth the price of admission (and for me, the GameCube itself). I was inrigued to find out how Nintendo would do RE. They did GREAT! I can't believe noone has reviewed this game yet on ebay!

GameCube (and Nintendo) in general are known for thier good, but "cheesy" graphics. Thank god there are no cheesy graphics in RE:0. The Graphics are among the best on GC and the cutscenes are to die for. The controls take some getting used to for two reasons. One is that you can switch between characters and the second is because it's a whole new controller for Resident Evil. But the controls work very well. The music is all new and does a great job of establishing the spooky atmosphere that is; Resident Evil. Even if there are no enemies in sight, the music will make you nervous.

The story is overall, pretty good. It does get a little hokey and unbelieveable at some points but thats what we've come to expect from the series. The voice acting is better than previous installments, but still is off and hillarious at times.

One of the NEW things for this game is the ability to drop items! No more running back and forth to the big item box. Just drop it and look on your map and you'll know where it is! Also because you have a "partner" he can carry items for you as well. Your parter isn't just a Donkey though, he can help you complete puzzels, shoot enemies, and conplete tasks that Rebecca can't do herself. You can also switch between them both. You can run around as him and have her follow or vice versa. You can also command your partner to stay, if you'd like to go it alone at some point.

The game moves pretty seamlessly and is pretty scary. My suggestion is to turn off the lights, turn the surround sound on and enjoy!

Resident evil 0 allows you to wander into even more conspiracy, Monsters, and Mystery. With dozens of new features, including item swapping, item dropping, Charactor switching in-game at any time. Also intense graphics .Has one of the best story lines since the Oringinal Resident Evil. Great lighting. Awesome Effects. Find out how the T-virus really spread! A King of Games without a doubt!

Resident Evil Zero for the nintendo gamecube was released by Capcom. Once again you are fighting monsters that are infected with the T-virus. This game provides you many new ways to swap items and characters. You get more control over your gameplay then you have in previous Resident Evil Games. You also get to learn more about the Umbrella Corp's T-virus and you get more of the story.

  Great game, sometimes

I had great expectations for this game. After playing the Resident Evil remake for the gamecube, which is a must have if you own a gamecube, I was expecting the same for Resident Evil Zero. Don't get me wrong this game is great, especially for beginners because you can choose an easy mode which gives you a lot of ammo versus RE1 for the gamecube where ammo is limited even on normal and you must dogde a lot to survive, but RE0 gives enough to shoot down almost every zombie you see, which is cool.
Story 10/10
If you have ever played any of the resident evil games, especially the first one and somewhat like the story, you'll love this game. It answers a lot of the "how" questions. In this game you get to use Rebecca Chambers, from the original resident evil, and Billy, an ex-criminal. Both has thier own weaknesses, but most of the game they are together, so it counteracts.
Controls 7/10
This was the most frustrating part of the game. In the beginning, you have to carry a lot of items and you don't have to much space to do so. You'll find yourself switching characters and inventory a lot, especially if this is your first time and/or you're new to the series. I even had a few troubles and I had a guide. Overall the switching, while cool at first, can be a drag especially because there's so much cool stuff to get, but no enough space to do so.
Graphics 10/10
Gamecube graphics, enough said.
Sound 8/10
Another disappointment. The sound is okay as far as sound effects go, but the background music isn't very scary at all. In RE1 the music had me bitting my nails and wondering what might happen next, this game was so-so at best.
Overall Value
8.5/10
Overall this game was a decent investment, mainly due to the cheap price. If you want a good, cheap game look no further than this game, but get RE4 and RE1 for the gamecube first, as they are better than this one.

Resident Evil ZERO ONLY available for Gamecube
Review created: 11/07/06

I bought this as I wanted a new Resident Evil title. Zero is only available for the gamecube so I thought I would take a chance. 4 is of course beautiful, and the first is a classic, but Zero should have a special place in every gamer's heart. Usually this game can be found pretty cheap, as opposed to RE2 and RE3, so if you got a GC and have already beat RE4, check this one out! I bought a used copy for less that $10 so the price is right!

I loved this game. I am a fan of all the resident evil series. This one I really enjoy the passing between both characters and being able to also move in a group. I also enjoyed that you needed certain character abilities to complete missions.
Overall a great zombie game with great animated cut scenes.

This was my first ebay purchase. I loved Resident Evil 1 and 4, so I decided to get another one from that series. I basically just bought it because resident evils are known to be great games. Plus, I got it at SUCH a low price! The game turned out to be awesome...so awesome that my boyfriend has played it twice. A great buy anytime.

  Pure Resident Evil

I remember when I first started playing this game I thought to myself finally a real resident evil game no remakes or side plots a game that relates to the main plot of resident evil and it does it in traditional resident evil fashion. this game answers many of fans questions about the origins of the T-virus ,the cause of the outbreak, the founders of umbrella, even the past of infamous antagonists Wesker and Birkin. This is a must buy if your a resident evil fan and its not just a good addition to the esteemed Resident evil plot line its a damn good game aswell. Surprisingly good graphics classic enemies with the same old overhead creepy views the whole game. the biggest flaw is that you cant see your enemies as you shoot at them many times but hell thats just Resident Evil, still I like the new cooperation aspect between the two main characters and the new leech enemies are a sweet new element to the game. This is just a great game what more can I say.

  Umbrella Review
Review created: 06/18/06

Well there arnt many words to describe this game apart from Ace. The graphics are brillant and the story line is very involving. The storyline answers a lot of unanswerd question about the history of Umbrella. It also tells us about Dr James Marcus I dont want to spoil it for any one so lets just say he has alot to do with the creation of the T-Virus. Also there are alot of new enemys like the leech man and the plauge crawlers and we also see the return of some of the famous monsters like the Hunters. Also the two player zapping systems works brillantly. The only downside to this game is that it can become very diffucult at points however if you've played past resident evil games you should find it easier.

  Resident Evil Zero Review
Review created: 10/13/08

What do I love about the game-

Detailed and rich environments.
Scary game play
Good graphics (prerendered environments)
Challenging enemies
Good story
Puzzles and limited resources (ammo and health) make the game fun.
Easter eggs
ZOMBIES!!!

Things that I dislike-

Controls are a little hard to get used to when you first start (once you get used to the camera angles they are superb). This goes for all Resident Evils except 4.

Not as many bonus features as Resident Evil(Gamecube).

If you played Resident Evil on the Gamecube and liked it you will love this game. If you have just played Resident Evil 4, you may want to borrow this game before you dole out the cash for your own copy. The controls turn a lot of people away. Stick with it otherwise you will miss a great game/series.

  Resident Evil Zero "Thumbs Up!"
Review created: 07/13/08
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

Resident Evil 0 is unique in it’s own right in the classic Resident Evil series because of the main game play feature dubbed the “partner zapping” system. This system allows you to now control both of the main characters, Rebecca Chambers (S.T.A.R.S. Bravo Team’s 18 year old medic seen in the original Resident Evil) and Billy Coen (an escaped ex-military convict) simultaneously through the entire game.

Both characters can travel together, with one character being controlled by the player and the other by the computer, or split up and search separate areas each at the same time. Even when controlling your own character, you can also control the other characters movements with the C stick. This dual control is crucial to solving some of the puzzles in the game.

Each character has different abilities. Rebecca can acquire chemicals with her mixing kit and can get into tight spaces, but is more fragile to enemy attacks. In contrast, Billy can handle heavy objects, has an oil lighter and can sustain more damage than Rebecca, but cannot mix herbs, which any character could do from previous games.

Another excellent feature is the fact the game does away with the use of boxes placed in fixed locations for the player to store items in. Instead, the player can now drop items on the floor to make room for new ones, which can be later retrieved and used for future use. Dropped off items can be found on the player’s map as you go through the game.

The plot-line, graphics, as well as gameplay offer a unique experience for the Resident Evil fans out there. The camera angels will aggravate you, which is one thing Resident Evil is notorious for doing to it’s players, but the reward of seeing the horrific graphics and disturbingly realistic audio is well worth it.

I also found that this was one of the hardest Resident Evil games I’ve played if not the hardest. You have to constantly monitor 2 people instead of one, exchange ammo and supplies when needed, and deal with more powerful enemies. But I still love the game for it’s graphics especially, as well as offering to us a new character like Billy Coen, who doesn't take crap from zombies, which is why I give it a thumbs up for excellence.

this game does a great job of explaining how the T-Virus started originally and what happened to cause the outbreak in Raccoon City. The main character Rebecca Chambers was fun to use and a great addition to the characters in the RE universe. The other hero in the game Billy was not as interesting but overall the ability to switch back and forth between the 2 was a nice touch. Overall i recommended this game not only for RE fans but survival horrors fans as well

  A classic...
Review created: 02/26/08

Resident Evil Zero for the Gamecube or Wii is a very nicely done prequel to the original Resident Evil (which was also an excellent Gamecube remake). The graphics are beautifully done, and the sound is great. Both are very fitting in mood and cooperatively help to immerse you into the world you are playing in. If you have played any of the older style survival horror style games (Resident Evil series, Silent Hill, etc.) then you will no doubt already be used to the directional controls. For me this was not really an issue, being already used to them, but if the game does have an unfavorable point at all, it would be simply the control style. Putting that aside, the game is practically flawless - visually, it's a delight, as well as audibly. The gameplay is fun, challenging, and rewarding. The atmosphere in the game is great - you really feel like you're experiencing a creepy and realistic horror/adventure as you make your way through with your characters. Something unique about RE 0 is the partner gameplay. I was afraid that this would become confusing and overwhelming, having to worry not only about your own character, but also an AI partner. This was also pulled off nicely, however, and gives you full and easy control to take over either character at any time you like, and also allows you to set up default behaviors for the AI to follow when it is in control. Work as a team to solve puzzles and watch out for and protect each other from enemies. If you can get this game for a good price from eBay, I highly recommend getting a copy to hang on to. This one is a keeper!

A great, less expensive Resident Evil!!

The game play is similar to Resident Evil 4. I don't like the Resident Evil Umbrella Chronical because you don't have as much control as you did in R.E. 4 for the Wii.
R.E. Zero has some lag in loading during scene changes but that is because of the GameCube itself.
It is move of an adventure game then a shooter game and I like that. You still have tons of bad guys to shoot and kill but the shooting part of the game is limited.
I would take this R.E. over the Umbrella Chronical anyday!!!

Good Game, Easier than RE Remake, lots more ammo laying around and lots easier to figure out, can get frustrating. you can have your partner set to attack mode they will have ammo and all ,and when a zombie comes at you they just stand there like a moron, instead of helping. Is a fun game.Great Graphics. i bought it for my son because he is collecting resident evil games for gamecube. just another for his collection! good game to buy

Raised The Bar on Resident Evil Titles
Review created: 09/21/06
1 of 2 people found this review helpful.

This game is the prequel to the original Resident Evil title and it does an amazing job. The story is unique, but sticks to much of what is present in the original game. Also, you'll notice little parts of the story that lead up to events in the first game - so the story definitely keeps you hooked from start to finish. Part of the reason the story is so intriguing is in part to the two characters you will control. Yes, that's right, you control two characters this time. You'll alternate between the two, as they each have different characteristics...mainly strength and size. You can be a young female cop or an arrested man. So the characters are really different and thrown in out of left field, seemingly. So they add a twist right off the bat that most of the other games don't really have. The graphics are awesome. I think the graphics may be better in Zero than they were in the original title for the GameCube. Also, you have the ability to drop objects for once and leave them somewhere - nothing major, but you'll be thankful on more than one ocassion that this feature was added. Other than that, it's your typical Resident Evil: there will be plenty of unique monsters, moments of sudden horror that may shake you up a bit, some great boss battles, tons of weapons, tons of mind bending puzzles and riddles and two discs worth of pure terror. This game is great and lengthy (two discs, as I just mentioned). I really enjoy these version of Resident Evil just as much as the newer version that debuted with Resident Evil 4. If you've played 4 and haven't played the others, you might want to consider that the previous titles weren't chocked full of action. They are slow, quiet at times and full of riddles. The zombies and monsters aren't so frequently encountered and in such large masses - there are boss battles - but don't expect non-stop fighting. Instead, these titles have some great sequences of puzzles and riddles...some of which you may not be able to solve until far later into the game. If you liked the original Resident Evil title, you will fall in love with Zero because of its unique gameplay with the tandem characters, the great graphics and the cinematic plot.
