Resident Evil: Degeneration (DVD, 2008)

I saw it while I was visiting Japan and it is exactly what I would expect from a Resident Evil movie; if you always liked the games and always wanted to see a movie based on them here it is.

The movie lacked a few things like; more of the other famous characters, different monsters and chainsaws but you won't be missing much because of how many other good things they added (you will laugh at the Umbrella Pun part). The story was very well written and people will be expecting to see a lot more movies from Capcom (Street Fighter) in the future. I recommend it for the type of fans that liked the graphics of the games but were never patient enough to beat them; here you will get the chance to have the feeling of playing but without doing so.

I decided to buy this after a friend gave it good ravings. After the 3rd Resident Evil movie I was not looking forward to any more. But for me, Degeneration revives the whole series.

An excellent movie that is a MUST SEE for fans of Resident Evil.

Claire Redfield is now a member of TerraSave, an organization which handles search and rescue at chemical and biological attacks. Claire arrives at Harvardville Airport to meet a family she is aiding.

A passenger aircraft is approaching the airport to land. As one of the attendants checks the passengers, she notices one man looking unwell. The man in question is clearly in the final stages of t-virus infection, and warns the attendant. Shortly after, he zombifies.

Claire is looking after her friend's niece, Rani Chawla, when they see Senator Ron Davis walk by. While a zombie-masked protester is arrested by a police officer, only to be attacked by an actual zombie seconds later. One of Davis' bodyguards shoots the zombie while being attacked by the infected security guard, who was presumed to be dead. The second guard attempts to run but is also devoured. The scene causes panic and people in the vicinity flee, some being attacked by zombies, and the plane crashes into the building, with all of the occupants already transformed into zombies. Claire, Davis and Rani hide in the VIP lounge.

At night, the airport has been locked down by the United States Marine Corps and local law enforcement. Survivors are evacuated for treatment, many still locked inside the airport. Two Special Response Team officers, Angela Miller and Greg Glenn are joined by a government agent with experience of such incidents, Leon S. Kennedy. The group enter the building through the roof and begin their search. They manage to find Claire and the survivors. Travelling back to the main terminal, Glenn is bitten by a zombie and stays behind, determined to save the rest by killing the creatures nearby. The survivors shoot their way out, with the marines (who had been vaccinated prior to the lockdown) clearing out the terminal.

Claire, upon being told that the WilPharma Corporation, who she was campaigning against, had created a t-virus vaccine, realizes that the vaccine could have saved those who died. Suddenly, the WilPharma trucks containing the vaccine are destroyed. Claire goes with WilPharma worker Frederic Downing to the WilPharma research facility for more vaccine. After a tour of the facility, Claire is shown a molecular-scale image of the G-virus. She is left alone in the room as Downing heads for the sample.

Claire calls Leon to update him about WilPharma's possession of the G-virus, and learns that he and Angela Miller discover Curtis Miller's house burnt to the ground. Downing phones Claire to warn her that a man has just left the facility and that a time bomb has been activated. Claire looks out of a window and sees Curtis Miller running through the central gardens with a briefcase. The bomb goes off.

The DVD was in fine condition- the case however was dirty on the outside of the case. It was sticky but it washed off. It should have been wiped down before it was sent.

i love all resident evils ever since code veronica ive collected all of then i even have the movies an now i have the cartoon im so stooked i cant wait to watch it gonna be awsome

I bought the dvd as a present, it is not for my personal use as such I have not watched it and probably wont

Pretty good for a CG animation movie.Nice to see they had Leon S. Kennedy and Claire Redfield from the games in the movie.Also liked that they brought back the T-Virus and G-virus and had regular walking dead like the first 3 games in the series.The dialogue is sometimes something to be desired,and sometimes the animation is pretty stiff looking.But,if you like the games you'll be used to this,and will be entertained.If you are a Resident Evil fan like myself,you should check this out.

THE BUYING PRICE WAS GREAT. I BOUGHT IT BECAUSE OF THE VIDEO GAME FRANCHISE AND THE AWESOME CGI THIS VIDEO HAS LOTS NON STOP ACTION

THIS MOVIE IS AMAZING, ITS THE FIRST CG ANIMATION MOVIE OF RESIDENT EVIL. THE GRAPHICS ARE OUTSTANDING, THE STORY LINE FOLLOWS GREAT, THE CHARACTERS FALL INTO PLACE, ALL IN ALL GREAT, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Good movie if you are a long time fan of the first RE games. If not, it is just another zombie movie that is animated

Standard DVD release, excellent animation and story line. A must buy.
Remember, number five was only released on Friday the thirteeth of March so pick this and get ready for a worthy marathon. Great!

I liked this movie a great coninuation of a very good story.I have been a fan of the Resident Evil series of games and movies, a good time was had by everyone when we watched this.

Very disappointed with this movie. Couldn't even get thru much of this poor movie. Just shut it off and put it on the shelf.

Excellent movie just for fans because if you don't had played any resident evil game, you won't understand the movie...
I really love the action, the trama and the graphics of this epic movie...
I really recommend it to every fan to have it as a piece of collection...

i feel the dvd was worth a look at and hope for more to follow . the story was pretty good along with graphics , lip movement seemed good ,but lacked more mutations to the style or resident evil . alot of people from games where in it . bottom line if your a dvd collector buy it if not atleast give it a look .

Because we are resident evil fans. We have mostly all the resident evil games.
Also have the movies. Wish they would make a game out of this movie.

Great original storyline. Leaves you wanting more, like everything Resident Evil it does not dissapoint. But if your not a fan, you may be a little confused about whats going on from time to time, but still a very enjoyable movie for all. The CG is amazing. The voices in the movie are the original actors of the games. I look forward to a sequel, which they leave it wide open.

It is an amazing movie that is full of thrills and suspense. A definite horror favorite that is sure to be loved by all resident evil fans with lots of action and excitement built into the movie.

I was looking forward to seeing this computer animated movie, but I find myself not happy after seeing it. I was under the mistaken impression that this would be a gory tribute to the games, done with the Japanese flair for extreme animation. While the animation is nice, the voice acting is not up to par, I frequently looked at the screen in disbelief at the way the lines were delivered, and what they were saying. I especially was disturbed by the way American soldiers were portrayed, it just seemed too much. No Japanese audio, seems like this was made for the Western market. Gore is really not shown at all, they just show people's faces when they see something gory. I am a fan of the Resident Evil games, but this is a great example of why you should buy movies on eBay. If you don't like what you bought, at least you did not pay a lot for it! Not to mention you can sell it after you see it! Final Verdict: It is an OK movie, just do not expect ultra violence.

Excellent movie, definitely a must have for the fans of the series.

(Who is Alice)? And Leon S. Kennedy is back to kiss more zombie ass.
You won't be disappointed. It's a blockbuster.

Is this the most faithful movie for the video game series?

Unlike the live-action films, yes.

Degeneration is a directly told story of what became of Claire and Leon
after the event of Raccoon City in RE2. While the CGI effects are visually
amazing (though everything seems to have a oddly smooth finish), the movie
does have its minor faults. While it's cool to see the same voice actors for
Leon and Claire take their respective roles in movie, as they did in the game,
the dialogue at times is somewhat, laughably cheesy. However, that's not to
say that the games were any different.

Asides from the cliches in the story, as a fan of the video game series, I
couldn't help, but to be disappointed in the lack of monstrosities. That and
the lack of truly gory chaos. In comparison to the games, the violence seemed
fairly tamed in the movie.

While any general horror fan could appreciate this movie, to me, there is too
many references that not having an extensive knowledge of the RE universe, a
casual viewer could be alienated and confused. This, undeniably, was made for
hardcore fans.

Degeneration is by far, the best RE flick, but still can't trump playing any
of the original games in terms of the experience.
