A great port of the best game of all time!

The Wii edition of this game comes with slightly improved graphics, true 16:9 widescreen and all the extra from the Playstation 2 version. But the biggest change are the improved controls courtesy of the wiimote and Nunchuck, which make capping enemies in the face much easier and more satisying. Is this game family friendly? Your crazy if you think so...Here are the details...

The Good: Ummm a great port of the best game ever. Great controls. Great and very intense and fitting music. Great and engaging story(if not a little cheesy), a wide assortment of weapons, Upgradable weapons, intense gameplay, a lengthy (but not too lengthy) campaign, great enemies. At 29.99 this game is a STEAL!

The "bad": Graphics are still good, but are two years old so they don't shine like they used to.

The ugly: There are none.

All in all this game is absolutly fantastic! Buy it now, even if you've played it on other consoles, it is definitly worth another look!

  Resident Evil 4 -- A must have
Review created: 07/15/07
5 of 5 people found this review helpful.

This re-released game (originally from the Nintendo Gamecube) has just grown better with time. Still zesty, this shooter game is not only a must have for R.E. fans, but for any Wii owner. The controls are masterful and using the Wiimote as a gun comes naturally. I would categorize this game into the "horror adventure" genre. You fend yourself from crowds zombies in spooky scenes, and often frantic situations. Even if you've never played a game this dark, you will love it, and perhaps gain a whole new respect for these types of games.

The Resident Evil series was my first Survival Horror. I had played it on my friends console, and immediately I was sucked into the engaging (and somewhat difficult) fight scenes. About 10 years later, with Resident Evil 4, this passion was reignited in me. The time is now, on the Wii, to experience a timeless game that will deliver fantastic gameplay every single second. Also, the game lasts a good while too... It took me about 30 accumulative hours to complete this game on the NORMAL difficulty. And even though I'm an experienced gamer, a lot of this time was spent exploring the map, searching for items, and enhancing my character.

Graphics -- On a Nintendo scale I would give it a 9/10. Definitely ranked amongst the best graphics for the Wii.

Controls -- Basically flawless. Its a little annoying reaching your thumb up to the control pad to change your view, but thats not the games fault. 10/10. The flow of the game is a giant step up from the original Resi 4. Just point the remote and shoot! Using 'B' to aim, and 'A' as a trigger is quite simple. And shaking the remote to use your knife (trust me, you will want to save your bullets) adds to the immersive experience.

Gameplay -- 10/10. You will want to keep playing until you finish, but then your remember that you need to sleep (unfortunately).

Story -- 9/10 The story is what motivates you to survive! And the story is not just there for the sake of being there. Everything in this series is tied together and you get to make the story yourself by playing along. Semi-frequently there are cinematic cut scenes which advance you and hint whats coming up. Of course, there are some weird twists and silly objectives once in a while (very rarely), but what game doesn't. This is just me being picky, most people would be too distracted by the mind-blowing headshots (bad pun) to even notice.

Value -- the best of the best of the best value. 10/10. Its so much fun, and its cheaper than regular retail price.

Sound -- 10/10. Hearing the sudden shouts of zombie-villagers will make you jump! You can hear echoed footsteps in a cave, dull thuds in a courtyard, the clapping of shoes when your in a palace. Also, whenever you hear the floorboards creek in a house, look behind you!!

A highly recommended game! My review may sound exaggerated but its not. Thats seriously just how good this game is. A must-buy!

Resident Evil 4 CAPCOM Wii Edition REMAKE
Review created: 09/22/08
4 of 4 people found this review helpful.

The purpose of remakes are to bring in new customers who've never really had a glance at the game, or to bring fans of the original game in hopes of boosting some kind of profit margin. Normally people who buy remakes of games they already played are hoping to play the game again with new twists and turns. This is what the normally get. But be careful as some games created on different consoles are not necessarily remakes, just redone.

This is an excellent remake of Resident Evil 4. A great game that many Resident Evil fans considered to be the best in it's franchise(I liked part 2 more). The remake has new twists, new routes, and new graphics. A great game for any Resident Evil fan and if you don't have this one you should pick it up. It's more fun on the Wii.

Please email me for anything questions if you like. Thanks!

I bought a game and I was not tricked in any means. As promised the product was delevered to me as I expected. Thi seller is very quick with response and backs up with the product.

The problem with this is not the game, but with Wii console. The movement is not fast enough like the Playsations, or X-box. Its hard to get the quick movement like you would with a controller. You will become frustrated at times. I have one and the Bowling drives me crazy.

A must for survival horror fans.

The ultimate in survival horror gameplay.

Same gameplay that was in the originally Gamecube and PS2 version as well as all the added content from the PS2 version.

The Wii controls make this game even more fun and thrilling! Immersing you more into the frightening environment as you move the Wiimote to aim and knife your way through.

If you have a Wii and love zombies (wink), this one is for you!

Still got the smell of Death

I haven't played a resident evil game in a long while. Why not because i didn't have the time or felt like getting but when it came out on wii and the price was just right i just have to get it. It was a wise choice. It is more fast pace and then before. I am not sure if that is due to maturing, lack of practice, getting the hand of the controller. My aiming is great i just suck at the analog stick i guess. I am not sure if you can run and shoot but i haven't tried that yet. Still making progress in the game. Love it.

Resident Evil 4: Wii edition (Review)
Review created: 09/21/08
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

Resident Evil 4, I've always been a fan of the, "Resident Evil" series. For a few reasons. They have a good storyline, they're scary, they have a wide variety of weapons. The storyline of all of the Resident Evil series is of course like any other storyline, "good verses evil." However, In Resident Evil 4 it had a different kind of, "good verses evil." Leon a goverment agent must rescue the president's daughter Ashley from a mutated race of subhumans. The game has lots of plot twists I don't want to give it all away. The scary part of Resident Evil 4 is that the player dosen't know what to expect monsters jump out when the player is not expecting it. The theme music makes it even more scary, for instance if the player is walking into a certain area and you get ambushed the theme music changes just like off of a psyhologicalthriller movie except the player can control the outcome through sucess or failure. The weapon variety of this game is really good it ranges from knife to a rocket launcher. In Resident Evil 4 the more rare the ammo for a weapon the more powerful it is. So the player has to use the appropriate weapon for each enemy. The wii remote adds a completely new dimension to the game. The player points at the screen with the weapon and shoots monsters in addition the the actual controller. The other systems don't have that. I can defently recommend this game to any Resident Evil fan considering buying this game. I give this game a 5/5 rating.

  Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition

This is perhaps the best first person shooter ever made. I love FPS however I hate the dual joystick movements. Now with the Wii it has definitevly resolved this issue. With the Wii you use the numchuck to move around and the Wii remote to aim and shoot. This is a major advancement in FPS. The over the shoulder camera angle works very well. This game offers about 50-60 hrs of original game play with a high level of reply value. Once you own this game you will not want to get rid of it. This game offers puzzles along with the FPS so you have to think and be able to solve puzzles with the clues that have been left. Lots of different weapons to dish of destruction and huge boss battles that will make you cringe and give you nightmares. The only things I didn't like was the limited amount of ammo and having to take care of Ashley while trying to fend off hordes of zombies. But even these very minor dislikes work well. All in all it's one of the greatest games I have ever played and I hope other third party game producers redo other titles like this one for the Wii.

A whole new dimension of gaming!
Review created: 07/22/07

I was not originally impressed with the gameplay, but after getting through the storyline and initial mission - the game took off... I'm hooked now. I love the controls, missions, and difficulty of the game. I have not beat the game yet, but continue to play as often as I can. I owned a PS#, but sold it to buy the Wii. Originally I thought buying the Wii was a mistake because I didn't think there were any good action games like Resistance for PS3. This game changed my mind and gave me a whole new outlook on the Wii. The PS3 has great graphics, but I can live without the HD for the fun of fighting Zombies with the Wiimote! This is a must have for any mature audience!

  Spot on!!

This game get nothing short of 5/5 from me!

If you have not played the older releases of this game (and why not?) the you are in for a treat! You play as Leon Kennedy who was the star of Resident Evil 2, who is now working for the US government and has been sent to a mysterious Spanish village to locate and rescue the presidents daughter, Ashley Graham.

I played the original gamecube version when it was released quite a while ago, I never played the PS2 version so I never had a chance to play the special 5 chapters as Ada Wong, but I can now! You also get a chance to play the special mini game 'Mercenaries', where you must kill as many enemies you can in a certain amount of time in order to achieve the highest score, performing killing combo's also increases your final score. The graphics in this version also seem slightly improved.... My finish time was 18 hours (but dont forget ive already played it through before), for someone new to RE4 id say it could take around 25 hours or more.

Obviously the main feature of the Wii version (and what everyone wants to know about) is use of the Wii's remote and nunchuk controllers, in my eyes the control system is flawless and handles extremely well. But the thing I just cant help but say 'awesooooome' to, is the use of the speaker on the wii remote, the remote will play reloading sounds and shotgun cocking sounds :D Let me guide you through which buttons do what:

REMOTE:
You use the remote to aim your current weapon. It can also be used to reload, you do this by shaking the remote whilst aiming. Shake the remote (when not aiming) to slash with your knife.
B = This aims your weapon
A = Fire (B must also be pressed)
+ = Command Ashley to follow or wait, skip cinematic.
- = Inventory
D-PAD = Shift camera
1 = Map
2 = Pause menu

NUNCHUK:
You use the nunchuk to move Leon and snipe using rifles.
C = Brings out your knife.
Z = Run (hold back then press run to do a 180 degree turn)

I find these controls work very well and don't think anyone will have a problem controlling this game. I guarantee you will enjoy this one and with a retail price of just £29.99 its a bloomin' bargain and should be in everyones collection.

Hope this helped some people make a decision!

  RE 4: Wii Edition
Review created: 03/27/09(updated 03/27/09)
by:
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

For those who are RE fans, you will be excited to know that RE 4 for the Wii is how the RE series, in my opinion, was always ment to be played!

This game follows really close to the other versions on the PS2, XBOX, and PS3. It gives you an over the sholder view like all of the other RE games you are used to playing and love so much. It is not like the other RE rail shooters that have come out specifically for the Wii. "Boo to you Capcom" Plus it has an added benifit of being able to interact with the game like no other system by using the power of the Wii remote. If you are a RE lover and have not played this game you are missing out.

If you know anything about the RE series, you know it is violent in a scary sadistic sort of way with lots and lots of gore! So if you are a parent worried about that sort of thing, this is not the game for you.

If you are into that, or are and RE fan, like I am, then this is a fantastic game! Graphics are great, not as good as Final Fanasy games, but then again not many games are.

The story line is solid with no goofy writing so it makes the plot believable and entertaining.

The puzzles are not as challenging as some of the RE's that I have played in the past, but that being said, some of the puzzles in the past RE's have been mind blowingly hard with out a guide. So this game will not frustrate you as much.

The plot moves along at a faily good pace without getting bogged down by trying to beat impossible bosses. That is not to say that the bosses are not challenging. You will probably have to play trought some of them twice before you overcome them but that is about it.

The good thing is that the game has automatic save points as well as manual save points so it allows you to go back to the automatic save point when you die instead of starting all over from your manual save point. When you start a boss the automatic save point starts at the boss. The key is to keep trying different tactics until you get them becuase there is usually a manual save point right after the boss.

There are lots of weapons that you can buy from the gun dealer at various points in the game. Plus unlockables which you can go back and play as different caracters. You will probably be enthralled with this one for a while!

If you love the Wii and you love RE this is most certainly the game for you. Hopefully Capcom will read this and start porting more of their games to the Wii (like RE 5).

For those that are not of the faint of hart, love to blow stuff up, mow things down, hard hitting violence (in a video game only way "I'm not sick, and don't promote violence") Then get this game and blow some shtuuufff Uuuuup! You won't regret it.

You can get some pretty good deals on e-bay. I got mine for only $16 which included shipping! Check it out!

This game is a great step in the right direction. especially on the wii. The in game control is the best, and for the wii, the graphics aren't that bad.

The pros,
innovative game control,
fun exciting,
adrenaline pumping,
and mind bending fun.

Cons,
even though for the wii the graphics are great but they just don't get it done like the ps3 and xbox.

I highly recommend this game for any level of gamer. a must have for wii owners.

resident evil 4: Wii Edition (Wii)

so i bought this game because obviously its resident evil. i bought it on the PS2 but i cant really move let alone aim with that stupid analog (since im 25, i guess its an age thing, cuz my lil bro says its easy) so i gave it to my lil brother. the wii edition is sooooooo much better since you can aim with the control, head shots have never been easier. the story line is off the hook as well, it keeps you into it and you lose track of time, not to mention the graphics and the swearing were a great touch (makes it seem a lot more realistic). the only negative thing i can say about this game is that, its not like the previous RE games, 1 there are no more zombies and all the bad guys can run! 2 its not scary any more but it is suspenseful. and 3 you dont have to think while playing any more everything is pretty straight forward. all in all, this is an awesome game and i would recommend it to everyone RE fan or not.

WII remote makes a big difference
Review created: 10/07/08
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

If you have played this game before on other consoles or even if you havent its a great time using the wii remote. The remote brings a whole new level to the game... Dated graphics but the game is still pretty good looking. The biggest difference between this consoles version and others (aside from the remote) is the game videos are rendered in real time. Meaning they look more fluid and give more life to the game... I havent played all the way through but it is a great game for the price it is running at now. If your a horror fan and or RE fan this is a must have on your wii.... Good Zombie Hunting to all

  Great Game; ADULTS ONLY please!

This is an excellent game... FOR ADULTS. My girlfriend can't stand the gore. It is pretty bad, but- overall- the game is really captivating. I have "Umbrella Cronicals" as well... Compare the two and this one wins hands down in every catagory.
Would recommend, again, to any adult. Especially fans of the resident evil series. -- By the way, if you own this game on any other console, it's probably not worth getting. Essentially, it's the same game with just a few features that are Wii exclusive (loading gun requires moving wiimote up and knife use requires shaking wiimote) but no added content for the wii.

Be a good parent and DO NOT buy this for your child if they are under 15!!!

Fantastic game, the graphics have been enhanced, and I would have to say the controls are much better than the PS2 version (I never thought I would be saying that.) I actually like pretty much everything about this game, they could have added a cinema or two, maybe changed the ending, but then someone else would have complained Im sure.
If you're undecided about this title, get it, you won't be disappointed. ;)

I have most of the top games for the Wii and this one by far is my favorite. It grew on me so fast. It seems to make the best use of the Wii controllers. The story is excellent too. It keeps getting more challenging, but if you die, it usually doesn't put you too far back. It is a bit graphic but I can handle it. Awesome fun!!!
