  Resident Evil 4

This is one of the greatest games I've ever played and I've played hundreds- the graphics are truly noteworthy, especially on the aging PS2 hardware, the lines are crisp, the colors vivid and the details are eye catching. An engaging storyline- with some humor as well as twists. Although linear, the story does offer some alternative choices once you've played the game through for the first time. This is, by far, the best Resident Evil installment in the franchise. You have access to more and better weapons (if you play a few of the side missions and then start a new game from the previous save, you'll have access to even better weaponry) but this isn't a game for the trigger-happy lead sprayer; while the conditions are slightly relaxed when it comes to obtaining and reserving ammo (players of previous RE installments can attest to the appalling lack of ammo reserves you had to work with) you still need to make every shot count. The game plays like an action-RPG; the character isn't necessarily 'upgradeable' but his weapons and armament is; all in all, an excellent game well worth whatever you pay for it, new or used. Just to give you an idea, I clocked in somewhere around 30+ hours in my first run-through, 5 on ONE side mission and started a new game with the weapons upgrades. Even better, the weapons you upgraded in your first walkthrough are still in your attache case, along with anything else that was left (money, ammo, grenades, health pickups) so you get to start off like a beast instead of a...well, you know, whatever's not so great. Of course, there will be those out there who feel that re-starting with the weapons upgrades is cheesy but hey, I like having the odds tilted heavily into my favor- and even then, the game still draws me in. So, if you've got some time to kill and about 20 bucks, go get this game- you won't be sorry that you did.
