In a Land of Late 90s Grunge..They Were Resident Aliens

Introspective lyrics..
Glam guitar riffs.. like a zooming rex..chop
Thrift store shirts with 500 dollar jackets..

Yes, this is spacehog.. Many of you will/would remember hit song "In The Meantime" upon the opening 10 seconds.. And those of you who failed at this exercise would only need to get to the first chorus to redeem yourselves..

Royston Langdons quivering falsetto is spot on.. with everyone who knows what its like to be an outsider.. that doesnt mind trying to fit in.. or is lost in hopeless love..

The album seems to refer to space.. as something great.. that is about to happen.. almost like the band is in a waiting period..or purgatory.. standing in line to arrive/rock over onto the other side.. where everything makes sense..(i wonder if theyve even realized this themselves)..

What many dont know about this album is it is packed with gems.. That never saw US radio airplay.. In the world of late 90s grunge rock.. This glam shot in the dark was quickly over looked (remember, i said it was dark!).. or never heard.. after top forty fading........................Indeed making these gentlemen "Resident Aliens."

Not just because of "In The Meantime"
Review created: 12/04/08

This is the first full-length album by Spacehog, and i have to admit, what a first album! It diserves "good" because all of the guys plays well their instruments, and the songs are quality songs, which hit a high standard, all of them. In adittion there's "In The Meantime", the big hit single from '96, but it's not the only great song on the album. It's worth to pay attention to the the songs "Cruel To Be Kind" (my personal favourite), "The Last Dictator", "Only a Few", "Candyman" and "Space Is The Place". From the other side i didn't give "excellent", because this album is a bit too David Bouvie, compared to their other two full-length albums. It could bear a bit more additional oroginality, but altogether it's still a good album. Yes, it's "good".
