Forget about the rest of the mob movies, and take a look at Reservoir Dogs. Definitely not a waste of money; if you enjoyed "Scarface" or "Goodfellas", I'd suggest picking this one up as well.
I already have the 10 year anniversary and saw the 15 year version and loved it right off the bat. The gas can is a reminder of the scene in the movie that is the best ever. For me this is a collectors edition that I will not part with so easily. I already have other collectors editions of various movies that I love and i will not part with so easily.
It's hard to believe this was the first effort of any director. In 1992 Tarantino unveiled this masterpiece, catching the movie industry off guard. In a time when films were stagnant this was a breath of fresh air. Instead of going for flash Tarantino assemebled an amazing array of underappreciated actors to portray his film noir band of tough guys. With a perfect blend of witty dialogue, gunplay, and other creative violence Tarantino sculpted a masterful modern crime story.
I cannot recommend this movie highly enough. While most people point to Pulp Fiction as Taratino's best effort I prefer the stripped down simplicity of Reservoir Dogs. Even after 15 years the film still holds up, one could bevieve it was filmed in the past year. The 15th anniersary tin packaging is great as is the quality of the transfer. This one belongs in everyone's collection.
