Rescue Dawn (Blu-ray Disc, 2009, Movie Cash)

The story of Dieter Dengler, a pilot shot down on a secret mission in Laos. He survives months in a prison camp, and eventually escapes. The movie has very little dialogue, but it is still very suspenseful. I would definitely recommend this film, however the Blu-Ray's menu is very difficult to use. You can barely tell the difference between what is highlighted and what is not, making it almost impossible to navigate. I accidently picked French for the language 3 times before I was finally able to set it on English 5.1. Whoever designed the menu was apparently color blind.

Werner Herzog's take on the Viet Nam war era prisoner escape film. Based on the real life story of Dieter Dengler, a captured pilot, stars Christian Bale, who vividly portrays his determination to escape from a Viet Cong prison camp. The real surprise here is the performance of Steve Zahn as another escaping prisoner. Zahn really steps up here expanding his talent from beyond the raunchy comedies of the '90's and the last Lonesome Dove mini-series. The realism of the film will make you cringe at times, but captures the heroism of these men. The Blu ray transfer was very good, but had higher hopes for the DTS HD soundtrack. Well worth viewing!

I love the quality of the movie, the clarity of blu-ray. I bought it because it has Christian Bale in it and it was a great choice.

I don't know why this movie get a very good rating?. This is not my cups of tea.
I have seen so many war movies that way better than this one. But, gotten way less rating.
