Synopsis
Fed up with the pressure put on her by her parents, a gifted fifth grader named Nora Rowley hasn't exactly been playing dumb, but, more accurately, playing average. When Nora attempts to prove a point by getting a very poor report card, she is forced to take an intelligence test, which, much to her dismay, reveals her high IQ. Still, Nora has a point to prove about grading and labeling students, and with the help of her best friend, Stephen, she's determined to make her opinion known.

Publisher's Note
Having always stood out for fantastic grades and a brilliant mind, Nora decides to put a new plan into action where she will challenge the importance of grades by purposefully lowering her scores--demonstrating that grades aren't as important as they seem when it comes to judging a person. Industry Reviews
"Clements, a former teacher, is a proven master at depicting the quirky details of grade school life and the not-so-petty skirmishes that color school politics."
New York Times Book Review - Sandy MacDonald (04/18/2004)

"Solid characters, convincing dialogue and a topic certain to spark dialogue earn Clements high marks."
Publishers Weekly (03/08/2004)
