Repo! The Genetic Opera (DVD, 2009)

If you loved Rocky Horror Picture Show you will love this movie. If you hated Rocky Horror picture show you will hate this movie. Different plot same theme with some added gore. I liked it, but can definately see how it would not be everyone's cup of tea.

GReat combination of Horror and Music should be the next Rocky Horror picture show in cult status. The Character development is great and the music is great.

Very creative. It took me a while to really get into it. But after 20 minutes or so, it was very enjoyable. My daughter turned me on to it - I hadn't heard of it before.

Some of the music is sophomoric - but my daughter is a sophomore, so that worked out ok ;-)

i love how creative the movie is! its something totally different in a world that is becoming all the same. everyone in the movie did an amazing job. great for teens and adults.

I bought the DVD Repo! The Genetic Opera. I saw this movie once before and thought it was really good. I looked everywhere, but couldn't find it for a descent price. When I looked on ebay I found a brand new DVD for a really great price. When I received it I was impressed with the fast shipping and quality of the DVD. It's still a great movie and I would recommend it to anyone who likes something just a little different.

I hired this movie on a whim at my local dvd rental store and I am so glad I did! It's everything I would want in a movie. It's dark, it's horrific, it has fantastic music and hot dudes. I love the story and the fact that Sarah Brightman's in it just seals the deal. I have always wanted to see her in a rock opera. I couldn't believe my luck when I found this. I haven't been able to get the songs out of my head since I first hired it about a month ago. I never usually buy dvds off the net but I just had to get this one.

This movie rocks!!

I think that this is by far one of the best movies I have ever seen, and trust me I am hard to please. Typically musicals annoy me but the music in repo is very unique. The clothing style,makeup,and theme of the movie is fantastic. I definately recomend watching it!

This is a great movie. I found out about it when I saw a trailer for it on some other movie. It seemed really cool, so I looked for it and found it at my local video store.
I'm really glad I did! This movie is SWEET! Not only is it a cool movie, but the music is rocking! I watched the ending credits to see if I could recognize any of the names, and Daniel Ash and David J from Bauhaus/Love And Rockets are on guitar and bass. Stephen Perkins from Jane's Addiction is on some drums. Also on some drums is the guy from Rob Zombie's band, don't remember his name. Even Ogre from Skinny Puppy has a major starring role in the film. I also heard on the bonus features that some guy from Guns N' Roses is playing, and a producer from Tool does some work on the music as well.
I'm not going to go into the plot and stuff because it's already pretty well described here in the stock info. All I want to say is if you like rocking music and horror movies, you'll like this movie! Check this out!

Do yourself a favor and watch this flick. When I saw the trailer I was hooked... once I saw the whole film I had to watch it again... and again! I hate Paris Hilton as much as the next gal, but even she was great, the role was MEANT for her! Sara Brightman is absolutely amazing. She literally makes the movie along with Anthony Head as the repo man. The songs are stuck in my head, and the story line is fan-tab-ulous. Like I said, watch this film at least twice.

Repo! is one of my all time favorite movies. As described, "not your parent's opera." It has a great and creative storyline set in 2056 where plastic surgery has become obsessional trend, but with an epidemic of organ failures. The songs easily get stuck in your head in the best way possible. This is a definite must-have.

I love this movie! One if my favotites if all time!!!!! It's Almost perfect! I just wish they didn't put all the special features on the bluray, and not the DVD

Repo is the best cult musical to come along since Rocky Horror. The cast is exceptional, and while there are one or two bad songs, the brilliance of the rest of the score more than makes up for it. If you love campy horror and catchy rhythms ("Zydrate Anatomy" will get stuck in your head for days), then this is the movie for you.

It may take you a few scenes to get used to the format of this movie, but it is well worth it. I have always been a fan of horror movies and this movie is great. The music is fantastic. Ogre from Skinny Puppy is a main character and even though I loathe the idea of someone being a famous just because they are rich..Paris Hilton does a great job in this movie. The colors and imagery are vivid and rich. Superb cinamatography.
The movie while set in the future with many industrial settings, has many many victorian settings and costumes. The mix sounds bizarre but really works for this movie. I do not want to give away the plot of this movie as I feel it is way better nopt knowing what to expect, as I did when I watched it at a friend's house. I immediatly went home to look for it on ebay!
My only disappointment was that this disc does not include deleted scenes ( I had to search Youtube for those). If you are a fan of horror movie, industrial music this is the movie for you!!Sure to be come a cult classic!!

i loved the movie, it was comical yet somewhat horrific at times. it actually went well with the music, its noy like those musicals that you just want the singing to end, the visuald are great, the repo man is so cool and the blind mag are amazing. its just a movie you have to watch. its not for everyone i dont think but those who are into rocky horror and blade runner might want to give repo a watch,

Don't get me wrong, there are some absolutely gruesome moments in this movie. I wouldn't let my children watch it (if I had any.)
What sold me on it was the fact that it features Sarah Brightman and Anthony Stewart Head, both great and melodic stage talents! And if there was ever a roll that was made for Paris Hilton, I'd say this was it. I'm particularly fond of Sarah Brightman and Alexa Vega's duo "Chase the Morning." These 2 minds appear to be the only truly pure-of-heart characters.

This Opera/Musical was PHENOMENAL!
I definitely recommend this if you love musicals or even if you don't.
The story line is twisted enough to make you want more, the music is AMAZING, it's just all around.. CRAZY INSANE.
There's honestly no way to actually explain how good it was.
I didn't think i'd like it (my girlfriend originally borrowed from a friend and we watched it together), but she loved it so I bought it for her for a gift.
Definitely worth checking out!

i loved the movie it was awesome ive watched it 6 times so far and i LOVE the songs in it :D i wanted to buy it because ive seen previews for it on other movies and i absolutely loved the saw movies so i wanted to give this movie a try :) and im glad i did :D

Repo! The Genetic Opera has definately raised the bar for rock operas, even Paris Hilton was decent in Repo!. For once I could actually stand to watch her, and really can't think of a more fitting character for her to play. The songs are infectious, and make you want to sing along even before learning the lyrics. I have to give major props to Terrence Zdunich, that man can SING!!! (And he's pretty to look at ^_~) Sarah Brightman was amazing as always, and Ogre from Skinny Puppy definately showed the perfect amount of flamboyance as Pavi Largo. Anthony Stewart Head really showed off both his pipes and his abilty to portray the dichotomic Jekyll/Hyde-esque character. The scenery and visuals were astounding, right down to the smallest details. The movie is a treat for the eyes and the ears; definately a can't-miss-cult-instaclassic.

Rented this with a coupon I had because it sounded absolutely silly. It turned out to be the best musical I've seen. Better than Sweeny Todd and better than Phantom of the Opera. Yea. Its that good.
