I Remember Mama (DVD, 2004)

One of our all time favorite movies. Had it on VHS and wanted the DVD for our collection. A great story about Mama that needed to be told. Highly recommend for classic movie buffs.

The good old days (and they were very good)! Just a wonderful example of life in days gone by. Just a wonderfully charming movie that everyone would enjoy.

This movie is one of my favorites. I bought this copy to send to my niece and her husband because their two toddler daughters call them Mama and Papa. The movie has timeless lessons for family relationships.

I got this DVD to replace my favorite VHS. The only disappointment was that the sound quality was weaker than I'd like. I have to turn the sound up to the maximum. I was very pleased with the seller.

I purchased the movie for my sister who has been looking for it for years.I had never heard of it but she said it was a favorite of mothers and our late mothers.So when i found it on ebay i had to order it for her.Since then another person has told me they want to get the same movie so it look's like i'll be ordering again soon.My sister was very happy with it and pleased i found it so thank you very much.

We wanted to show this movie for our senior citizens group and needed a DVD format. As old as the movie is, the quality on the DVD was very good and the story, of course, is timeless! It was thoroughly enjoyable for those who have seen it through the years and those who saw it for the first time. "I Remember Mama" is a poignant story about families and a wonderful reminder of how things used to be.

I remeber seeing this many years ago. At the time I had never heard of Irene Dunne, but after seeing this movie, I watched everything with her in it that I could find. Now it is much easier to find her movies. she was wonderful. I highly recommend it.

I like almost anything Irene Dunn played in, but I have to say "I Remember Mama" is one of my very favorites. While she is the title character, ALL of the characters are so richly developed and well-played, there isn't a single lull in this film. It's funny, sweet, and well-acted. I love this one!

I love everything about this movie! The acting, the stars (Irene Dunne!),the costumes, sets, the era, and most of all - the story. It's captured on film a piece of American heritage that I believe we should all keep in mind. It's not about the early settlers who came on the Mayflower, but the immigrents who came around the turn of the century.

It was fairly common then to come with the entire extended family and they stuck together - whereas today we move or are moved hither and yon and loose the benefits of remembering our roots and maintaining close and frequent contact with aunts, uncles, cousins, and siblings - a very important thing to have. It shows family values, where family does come first - parents taking the time to nurture their children and treating them with all their different characteristics tenderly, and the love and devotion they receive from their kids because of being raised that way. The parents use that same careful and practical treatment to the rest of the family - with all their peculiarities and all.

It's good to see the whole family working together to plan their spending and seeing how that information made a difference in how the kids learned respect for budgeting and appreciation for what they had - without frightening them about lack of money, but seeing where it went and how important it is to cover the basic expenses of life before any little luxuries are purchased. I admire that a lot as it laid the ground work for conscientiousness and didn't produce a willy-nilly brood of thoughtless, demanding "gimme gimme" kids. If parents had the know-how to do that these days, I think we'd see a great difference in how our country's young people would appreciate their parents for raising them that way, in their manners and in how they would show greater respect for their families, other people in general, and money.

We should remember that most of our families in the US started out this way. Hard working, not usually wealthy, but able to go on through their days with dignity and honor, the support and comfort of their families nearby, and with respect for others and themselves. A very good way to live.

This show is good for those people who just want to relax without expending their emotions. You can see how families deal with problems and unfavorable relatives yet remain a family. It is a nice old fashioned movie. It is not a high-strung fast pace movie so it is kind of boring at tmes. Good for old fashioned Mama to reminisce the olden days.

Nice family movie about an immigrant Norwegian family living in San Francisco in 1910. If you liked the Waltons you should like this one. In fact Ellen Corby, Grandma Walton plays "Mama's" sister in I remember Mama.

I remember Mama is a hard to find movie. I watched it with my mother when I was little now i want to show my two daughters the movie. Thank you
