The book was in great condition, like new! It was listed as less-than-new, so I was even happier when I received it.

One of the Best Books I Have Read
Review created: 05/15/08

This book is such a suspensful, on the edge of your seat thriller, I simply could not put it down. If you are a person who likes to read books with unusual situations and scary creatures in them, then this book is a must have for your library. I also watched the movie that was based upon this book, but I have to say I did not like it as well as I liked the book - the book was much more informative than the movie. This book is really fascinating (and quite scary) - be prepared to stay up late into the night reading.

  Relic by Douglas Preston (1996)

Relic by Douglas Preston (1996) - Great Thriller - Everytime we go the Museum - we look for the kiler - Great read - Preston is great - even better when he writes with Lincoln Child.
Days before a massive exhibition at the New York Museum of Natural History, visitors are being murdered. Autopsies indicate that the killer cannot be human. The museum's directors decide to go ahead with the bash in spite of the murders. Now museum researcher Margo Green must find out who or what is doing the killing. Does she have time to stop a massacre?

  Stunning and Fear inducing!!!
Review created: 08/06/07

I have read several works of Preston and Child and continue to buy more.. The first book I read by the due was THE CABINET OF CURIOSITIES, which had me hooked by the 10th chapter. I read MOUNT DRAGON, next which isn't even in the Agent Pengergrast series but it was equally as good. I made one big mistake by reading Preston and Child's THE CABINET OF CURIOSITIES prior to reading RELIC. Some of the characters in THE CABINET OF CURIOSITIES can be found in the RELIC.
I cannot express my delight of reading the books by Preston and Child. There is an intensity of their writing that induces me to forget that I am reading a book. When I am involved in reading their novels, my mind travels with the characters in the novel. I find myself sweating and sitting on the edge of my chair. Their writing is quite astonishing. In addition, they bring in technology and the anthropological/biological sciences into a world were not everyone gets to visit a museum let alone the New York Museum of natural history.
So while exploring the Amazon, an expedition from the Museum of Natural History in New York City, come across a hut with a ritual figurine of a creature - presumed to be a totem of a lost tribe. It is sent back to NY. The Expedition is killed. The figurine sits in the vaults of the MNH for decades. It gets opened in preparation for a new exhibit, and people start being killed.

I will continue to read Preston and Child, and recommend them to anyone.
