Album Notes Personnel include: Carly Simon (vocals, acoustic guitar, whistle, piano, keyboards, synthesizer, programming); Eric Gale (electric guitar); David Sanborn (alto saxophone); Michael Brecker (tenor saxophone); Dr. John (piano, organ); Richard Tee (electric piano); Will Lee (bass instrument, background vocals); Steve Gadd (drums); Andy Newmark (congas, percussion); Ralph MacDonald (percussion); James Taylor , Roberta Flack (background vocals). Recording information: 1971 - 2003. You know that tattered old Carly Simon best-of album that's been sitting in your older sister's record collection for decades? It's been firmly supplanted. While the two-disc ANTHOLOGY on Rhino is the most comprehensive Simon collection, for a single-disc retrospective, you can't do better than this. Obviously, the expected staples are all present and accounted for, from the breathlessly innocent "That's the Way I've Always Heard It Should Be" to the sassy, notoriously inscrutable "You're So Vain." Expanding on the aforementioned 1975 compilation, though, REFLECTIONS goes on to include the slinky Michael McDonald co-write "You Belong to Me," the synth-flecked '80s hit "Coming Around Again," and much more. For a thumbnail sketch of this beloved singer-songwriter's work, REFLECTIONS is the definitive article. | Find errors in the product description? Submit a catalog update request now. | ||||||||||||||
Top Reviews Review created: 10/11/06 by: 3 of 7 people found this review helpful. These are the best of the the best of Carley Simon's song. She really can sing. She is so cool on You're So Vain and her Nobody Does It Better should be about her but it sounds like she's singing it to you. These are classic songs--all on one cd. Every song is a rocking hit! I will definitely buy some of the Carly Simon's album. Review ID: 10000000006562942 Was this review helpful? Report this review Review created: 03/13/08 by: Great assortment of Carly Simon's hits. Love the full clear quality of her voice and the accompaniment doesn't cover up the performer. I didn't have any of her music until a couple weeks ago after watching the movie, "the Little Black Book". I had forgotten how nice her music is. I believe there is only one song on this Greatest Hits CD I don't care for and that is because the radio has over-played it. I guess they don't know that Carly has other really great songs. If you like this one, and if you are a romantic and need some "mood" music, try Carly's My Romance album. Review ID: 10000000006186135 Was this review helpful?
