Red Road

Loved the sunset colours, twilight, time of new beginnings-colour symbolism being very important in Red Road.In response to the earlier Review,I'd say that the film was not courting an R rating, indeed I wondered if X isn't closer to the mark, with sex that if simulated, doesn't appear so,and some behaviour that undoubtedly is not.It is not however a film about sexual acts, which when they occur may well be cold, but rather an introspective study of grief, loss, isolation, forgiveness etc. .I additionaly didn't find it difficult to care about the characters, moments of warmth are many simply not demonstrative.Set in Glasgow, the emotional language, subtler.I found Red Road more enjoyable on my second viewing, would say that it seems less like a film and more like life, with candid outstanding performances from Dickie,Curran & Compston particularly. This is a many-layered film that cares, kindly, patiently, quietly amid the Thriller framework and I suspect is easier heard with the heart. Be sure not to miss the shorter film WASP in the Special Features .
