Red Planet sets stage on Mars, inhabitable dessert like planet surface. Five team space craft lands after a hard inter landing. The algae which was suppose to support oxygen is not to be. One mechanical buddy will take on life infected from the planets surface throwing a wrench into what seems bleak and mystic.

Amee a robotic humanoid trys to kill the crew, they try to disassemble Amee, but the space station that was build is destroyed. These guys are loosing oxygen and soon to die but at the last moment Kilmer takes his helmet off and finds out they all can breath, film was rated 5*****. Rated: PG-13, CC, 106 minute.

CAST----- Anne Moss----- Val Kilmer------ Tom Sizemore----- Simon Baker

Where did the algae go, a fifty year old probe will need to be used to jump start the craft they crashed, criters are crawling around on the ground, only 2 crew can fit inside the wrecked ship Cosmos. One last thing, a huge ice storm is approching with 110 winds and -53 F.

Excellent film, I really enjoyed plot and acting from all cast. I highly recommend film to anyone into space adventure.

Great Movie, used real technology and cosmic anomalies. Val Kilmer and Carrie-Anne Moss are really good together. The story has reality possiblities.
I give this a 10 for possiblities and some good graphics and special effects.
This movie is better that "Mission to Mars".
Six months to travel to Mars and begin terra-forming with algae and missile explosion above the Mars ice caps to release moisture and oxygen.
Very good Ideas for a real possiblilty and movie making.

I Thought this was a really good movie. I love movies about mars and i think this one is relatively realistic. Interesting story line that keeps you thinking. in my opinion it has kinda a cheesy love situation. overall i thought it to be a movie worth getting. (love the tech in it)

the only thing that i didn't like about this flick is that it had to end!!!
i also wish that it was manufactured in a better box (ie. Plastic case, instead of snap-box and cardboard style...)--with a neat little booklet inside.

If you are a sci-fi fan, this DVD is one ou will want to add to your collection. val Kilmer is excellent. Also add to your collection Mission to Mars starring Gary Sinese. Two thumbs up for both of these Mars movies.

I don't knowe why the pauses
Review created: 06/05/08

Although all the DVDs I bought from eBay have a slight pause somewhere in them I find them excellent. I am afraid of getting tired of them, as I watch them over-and-over.

Red Planet is one of my favorite DVDs of the some-odd 20 I already purchased. I like the robot Aimee, and the computer on the ship. Val Kilmer was great, and the ending of the movie was the best part. The Martian terrain looked real, which was really cool. I liked the part when the astronauts landed on Mars where the capsule, with air bags, bounced for a long time before stopping.

The fight moves by Aimee were unreal, and unbelievable. It reflects on those phoney martial arts movies with special effects. Over all it is a good movie.

Two movies came out at the same about astronauts exploring Mars. They were different plots altogether. Red Planet included more action sequences and less character development. I enjoyed Val Kilmer and Carrie Moss's unusual relationship and the always solid character actor Tom Sizemore. A lot of fun and great visual effects!!

  Red Planet, what a mess!
Review created: 02/02/08

Great premise for a sci-fi movie, Earth is trashed so lets all move to Mars! A little out there but still good. Good effects and plausible technology. Decent acting. The romance between the captain and space janitor(Val)is not very believable. Benjamin Brat plays a real jerk very well. The crew mix seems bent on conflict which of course, for a 2+ year mission, would have been completely eliminated by mission planners! But hey, its a movie!

For me it is easier to buy and sell things from my home since I live so far away from civilization. It was also easier to locate.

Ever since I saw the movie on TV I have wanted it. I thought it was an interesting movie about how humans interact given what seems to be an impossible situation. It is one of my favorite movies.
