Rebecca by Daphne Du Maurier (1996, Paperback, Reprint)

Similiar to Jane Eyre but set in the 1920's. A romantic mystery. It is not one of those gushy love stories, but has drama and twists and turns. Would appealing to all readers!

Books, even the paperbacks, have become very expensive. This particular book, Rebecca by Daphne Du Maurier, was one of the books my Granddaughter had to read over the Summer. I went on ebay and found a copy, in like new condition, for half the price of a new copy. And she loved the book.She will have many more required reading in future and my first choice will be ebay.

I loved this book. I decided to buy it because I read it about 30 yrs ago and since I am such a big fan of Alfred Hitchcock movies, and his movie Rebecca is one of my favorites, I wanted to read it again. The book gives you so much more detail than the movie, but, the movie does the book justice. I would strongly advise all to reread this book and see the movie again. If you are a newcomer to "Rebecca",you will enjoy it very much and you will also enjoy reading Daphne Du Maurier's other books.

This book would have been so much better if I hadn't heard the ending when I was only just starting the book. If anyone wants to read this and wants to have a surprising ending, don't look it up on the internet because it will tell you the end. Besides that, this book was pretty good. Some parts were boring, but some were okay. If you're really interested in the book, you should read it. And that's all I have to say about that.
