A Reason For Handwriting, Kindergarten by Carol Ann Retzer, Rob Harrell (2001, Paperback)

I used this book with my own children when homeschooling. I bought it as a donation to a program that helps disadvantaged women and their children. Mom was VERY appreciative of the book to help her son learn to write using correct procedures. It is good for left to right progression, printing using counter clockwise circles to make letters. All while drawing in a fun coloring book format. Makes learning fun. Would highly recommend the entire series to learn handwriting.

When we first started this book my daughter was not too excited about writing. However, we have now completed the first 20 or so pages and she is absolutely loving it! Handwriting is the thing she always wants to do. The animals that go along with each letter/lesson really captivate her attention and help her to focus on her work. She is doing so well with her writing - I am just amazed. Also, viewing the lines as a treehouse is very helpful in explaining to her where the letters should start, stop, etc. I love this book and would gladly refer anyone to it!

This book is the perfect starter to learning how to print. The pages are simple and uncluttered so a preschooler/kindergartner won't be overwhelmed. It's extremely sequential and easy to follow. The downside is that it isn't all-inclusive....there is a separate teacher's manual needed to fully use this workbook. I wish there were more Scripture tie-ins and Bible references within the workbook itself so I didn't have to buy a separate manual to get full use out of the product. Perhaps the K book is just too young for that and the odler grades will include more. Overall, I like the product and plan to use it for all 3 of my children.
