I love this movie, and the special features on the DVD were very good also and were very helpful. It was also well within my budget - barely more than a single movie ticket.
This mystery is the forerunner of other similar movies and is now my very favorite Hitchcock film.
There is not anything about this movie that I do not like.
This film is a great lesson for anyone studying filmmaking for the following reasons, among others.
First, Hitchcock was a genius to whom details were important. This movie didn't need to be rated "R" because the material that would require that rating is implied. Hitchcock was a master of subtlety and the violence and sexual content as well as vulgar language was not something he needed to put in his films. Every detail of "Rear Window" is worthy of study because all of the details are important.
The casting was excellent and I can't imagine the movie being as good with alternative casting.
I bought this movie because I viewed it several years ago and wanted to own it. I would buy other Hitchcock films in the future and would recommend this DVD to friends.
