The Real Mother Goose (1994, Reinforced Hardcover)

I love the Mother Goose Nursery Rhymes! They bring back pleasant childhood memories of my Mother reading them to me as well as singing them to me. There are many rhymes included in this collection as well as vibrant pictures depicting the rhymes. I am a doll collector and I wanted some old books to display with my dolls. When I saw this book, I had forgotten over my adult years about the precious memories of childhood. I wish I had a copy when my girls were little so I could have shared the rhymes with them. But, now I will have a copy to share with my future grandchildren as well as a beautiful display piece to display with my dolls.

I purchased this book for my grandson. Our family had an older version of this book that we read to our children and wanted to pass along these wonderful vignettes to the next generation. As an educator I feel that the more you read to your children when they are young the more likely that child will read when they are in school and beyond. These vignettes are short enough to capture the child's attention and the colorful pictures also give a wonderful avenue for you, the reader, to enhance their vocabulary as you describe what the child is seeing. My mother read Mother Goose stories to me when I was a child, I read Mother Goose to my children, and now these same stories will be shared with my grandchildren.

I bought this book for my youngest daughter ,it was a favorite of mine when I was her age .I carried this and The velveteen Rabbit with me wherever i went ,I hope she enjoys it as much as I did.It is a great first independant reader and what kid doesn't like rhymes?An absolute must have for every kid.

I had this book when I was a little girl. It is filled with nursery rhymes both new (at the time) and old. There are hundreds with beautiful pictures and the index is very helpful. I remember having favorites and my mom let me use a pencil to underline the ones I wanted read every night. It is the greatest book for bedtime story-time because you can switch it up and read it every night. I suggest getting this book for your children, grandchildren and even just to read yourself!

I bought this as a gift for a friend that's having a baby. I am also making bibs with the same characters as the book. It is a book of nursery rhymes.

Unchanged since its first publication in 1917, this book is a thing of beauty. I spent many hours snuggling my own and reading this nonsense, and each grand baby got a copy this year. Granted many of the rhymes make little sense and there is what some might construe as violence in some, but it's the rhythm of the words that little ones love. How sad for a child to enter kindergarten unfamiliar with these words so steeped in tradition. Yup, this book is absolutely necessary.

I read this book over and over to my children. It has every nursery rhyme imaginable in it and many pictures to complement the rhymes. My oldest son memorized many of the nursery rhymes in it. According to many children's literature experts in child development programs that I've attended for college classes to be a preschool teacher, nursery rhymes are an excellent teaching tool for language development; one that needs to be used more. I bought this same book for my grandson and intend to use this one for teaching preschool. I was overjoyed to get this product in great condition for a used book.

I bought the book of nursery rhymes a few weeks ago. I have gone through and read several familiar nursery rhymes to my children since then. They have enjoyed them very much. It has been interesting to see some of the rhymes I was taught are actually different from the originals in the book.
