In my opinion, this was the best movie of 2004. Jamie Foxx plays Ray Charles in Ray - the story of Ray Charles maturation and struggles as a R&B and Soul singer during 1935 and 1967. There are three outstanding aspects to Ray:
1) The music is outstanding. Regardless of your affinity towards Ray Charles - the quality of the music and sound in Ray is flawless. Hearing Sweet Georgia for the first time in the film is moving. The music is the thread that connects much of the film and the dialouge... and its done perfectly.
2) Jamie Foxx plays Ray Charles flawlessly. He has the voice, the style, and quirks down... and thats why he won the Academy Award for the performance.
3) The visuals - from the colors to the filming, Ray is a visual masterpiece.

Ray - A Must Have Movie

I bought this dvd because I had never seen it, prior to coming on television and I knew I wanted this movie in my library. I liked this movie because the acting was very good, I love Regina King and Jamie Foxx, and the movie itself was very entertaining. Something I could watch over and over, especially on a slow tv day, with very little to watch, I'll pop this in.

if you like films then "Ray" is for you.
If you like music, especially Ray Charles (and who does not)
then this film is for you.
There are so many things about the life of Ray that
this film tells with care and at times with stark truth.
Fox, who plays ray is amazing, possibly one of the best performances on the
silver screen of all time (I am old school but this film is a modern classic), and when you watch "Ray" you begin to think that you are in this film being pulled into a man´s world of darkness that gave so many light through his music and his life.
So, do you like films, music, Ray Charles moving stories....
if yes then I recomend you buy this film... "Ray"
Grab the popcorn and enjoy!

This movie was very well preformed by Jamie Foxx. He played the role of Ray Charles to the "T". I've seen him in previous movies that were simple awsome, but to have played a character that was non-fictional, and a person who was well loved for his musical abilities was simply breath taking.

Best moviebest movie seen! It was dedication to ray charles' life and how he struggled through obstacles to be where he was. One of the best movies I have ever seen; definitely great plot. I do not normally buy DVD's but I had to own this because I will very likely to watch it again.

I saw this movie on the tellie and wanted it for my collection. When I finally found it on eBay at a somewhat reasonable price, I decided to get it.
I was disappointed in the quality of the DVD from this seller, but all in all the movie was good, so I am glad I got it. Hopefully some day I can get one without all the scratches on it, and that it will play good.

Ray Charles The King!!!
) This is the best movie ever! I take my hat off to all of the actors especially Jamie fox! I was so moved by this movie that I could not shake it for days. This movie about Ray Charles moved my heart in ways no other movie has. I mean that from the bottom of my heart. I have tremendous respect for Ray Charles after viewing his life biography. I continue to respect him like no other singer or musician, because although he fell short at times in his life he made up for it and did right for his family and his self in the end. He's s real man of God.

What do I like about this/decide to buy it?...well my husband is very happy he asked me to get this for him.Since we received it he has probably watched it over 15 times. Jame Fox was Excellent in the movie....they sure did a good job casting this film. So what makes my husband happy makes me happy.

When I saw this movie the first time, I knew that one day I had to own the DVD! This movie portrays a very important part of American pop music culture and an even more important part of this nation's Black heritage. Jamie Foxx does Ray Charles so well that you are sure that he must be a clone! This movie is a must see if you love music and want to better understand today's music... and it is a must see if you want great entertainment and excellent acting. Also be sure to watch the meeting between Foxx and Charles in the extras portion of this DVD... priceless!

Ray (2005) DVDPurchased the dvd for my classroom...thought it was a good role model story for the children...also opens all sorts of doors for discussion on racism, motivation, determination, and dreams. I believe the children of today need to see more real life success stories...they have to believe if they are to ever achieve!
