Introduction

Here we are again. Two years later and another console game sequel to the Ratchet and Clank series comes out. Only this time around you get to see the duo in high-definition on the Playstation 3 and lets just say I don't miss the PS2 all that much anymore. This is the 5th game I've played in this series and I've been there since the start when the first game released in 2002. I was looking forward to this game all year and needless to say: it delivered.

Game-Play

The game-play has definitely been this series strong point and this game does extremely well in this area. While the 2 previous games lacked a bit in the platforming department this game brings it back with a vengeance. Many of the gadgets are quite fun to use, my favorites being the Gyro-Cycle and Robo-Wings. Another interesting gadget that really screams platforming is the Gelanator which shoot out a cube of gel that lets you jump higher and lets you stack them to get even more air. For you returning players in the series you'll notice many other gadgets making a welcomed returned such as the Heli/Thruster Packs and some more grind-rail goodness.

The shooter aspect of this series also does not disappoint with the many new weapons and combat devices Ratchet has at his disposal. The weapons themselves are quite diverse from one another and all need to be utilized in different ways to be effective. Each weapon is quite fun to use and they never get too complicated for the average player. The weapons also get experience with each use on an enemy and further upgrade their damage capabilities with each level they gain. My favorite weapon would have to be Alpha Cannon, which just screams firepower when you use it. Health is once again nano-tech based with health crates abundant for restoring health. Wrench use has also been kept the same as well.

The devices are a new aspect to the R&C series and they don't disappoint. Ranging from making any enemy dance with the Groovitron to turning them into a lovable penguin with the Transmorpher the devices are good for some laughs and is also very helpful to get out of a pinch.

Clank only game-play has made a return in this series and it's better than ever IMO. His new buddies have some neat new powers and Clank also gets a new helpful power of his own as well. The areas that you traverse with him can be thought provoking and are sometimes quite fun to do, unlike in past games where I thought it was a chore to play as him.

The only issue that I think any new player would have coming into this game would be that fact that there's not enough tutorial to teach new players how to do certain things.

Game-Play Score: a solid 10/10 with no big issues whatsoever(since lack of an extensive tutorial doesn't effect me) and it does what it's supposed to: making this game a blast to play.

Rent or Buy

Unless you like rush through things or you don't like platforming, this is the game you must own on your PS3. As of right now there's nothing else like it on the current gen console market and it's an amazing game to boot. It's also just good clean fun that people of all ages can enjoy. It's an obvious buy.

Good game, graphics awesome, game makes you say dang. But unfortunatly this game took me 13 hours to beat, the game wasn't built to last a long time. Don't pay retail price for this game, pay at least $15 cheaper. It is a great game, but not best in series.

Everything about this game was great. So many hidden objects and pathways. THe gameplay is great and if you find it easy the first time around just wait until after you beat it and have to play challenger mode. Everything becomes much more difficult, but you do get to keep all the items you earned the first time through.

Anybody selling this game who says the only played it once is full of crap. This game sucks you in. You can't just play it once and give up on it.

I'm not gonna keep talking this game up, but if you get it you won't be disappointed. I will never get rid of the game even though I beat it.

Most definitely one of the best games available for the playstation 3. a must have. fun storyline, great graphics, a little use of puzzles, tons of action.

Great video game. My 6 yr old grandson enjoys the graphics and fast moving targets.Easy to grasp the concept. Competitive. Challenging. No bad language.

I had never played a Ratchet and Clank game before Tools of Destruction, so I did not know what to expect when I dowloaded the demo. What I got was about 10-15 minute glimpse into what turned out to be the best game I have played in the last couple of years. Upon playing the demo I went out and bought the game immediately. I still play it to this day and anybody who has a PS3 NEEDS THIS GAME!!!!!

Graphics: Amazing, best looking game that I have ever seen. Visual style of a Pixar movie (Toy Story etc.). No slowdown, chopping, clipping or glitches.

Sound: Very subtle musical score mixed with the sound of PAIN!! Excellent!

Gameplay: The best platforming game that I have played since Conker's Bad Fur Day. Levels are set up wonderfully and the difficulty fluxuates throughout the game. Even though it isn't that difficult the first time through, playing it on Challenge Mode after you beat it once does step up the difficulty quite a bit. The weapons all shoot and feel different, but all work amazingly well. Devices are awesome (especially the Groovitron) and are really fun to mess around with. This game has the best mix of combat and platforming of any game to date.

Lasting Appeal: Around 10-15 hours to beat it, come back for challenge mode and keep all of your weapons, armor and up the difficulty for another 10-15 hours. Add in Skill points for each level and the general game, Gold bolts to collect and turning fun options on (when you unlock them) like Ratchet and Enemies with huge or tiny heads and changing your character to different skins (including a Snowman) adds to the length of this already time consuming title.

Overall, I own all three Next-Gen systems and this is the most fun I have had with a game. PERIOD. If you have a PS3 and are looking for a great game, GO BUY THIS!!!!! (or at least download the demo!).

This is an amazing sequel to the already awesome Ratchet & Clank series! It's very fun to play. Not too difficult, or too easy. Just right. The graphics are great, and even though there are a few bugs in the game it never ceases to entertain.

My title says it all. Awesome graphics, gameplay, story, and sound. This is one of the first games in a LONG time that I started playing a second time through immediately after completing it the first time. One of the few must haves for the PS3!

This is an awesome game start to finish...even though I did not like the ending story. Graphics and storyline are unreal in color and presentation. I have been through it all the way twice in the last 2 weekends. If you have the first Ratchet and Clank it plays much the same. You have some real firepower that is fun and easy to use. Some foes take a little figuring out to defeat, but nothing really difficult. Any teen can go through the game easily as well as an old fart like me who loves great games. Will not be dissapointed with this one!!!

My fiance is going to a very nice college about 2 hours away, I decided to let her take the flat screen and PS3 because she would be stuck in a dorm. I just had to get her a good game so I purchased ratchet and clank. It is a fun game. Nothing fancey and new like Gears of War or Call of Duty but a classic playing style that never gets old.

I love this entire game. Very good graphics, great storyline, fun gameplay. What else could you ask for? This is a very cartoony game, so it's not for hardcore people who can't play any game other than shooting things millions of times. I was thinking of getting the newer one (A Crack in Time) but I decided to snag this one for about 35 dollars less and it was clearly worth it. If you are new to the series, I would reccommened getting this one before Ratchet and Clank Future: A Crack in Time. One thing I loved about this game was how well you could control the camera. Overall, a great game, and at the 30ish dollars most people are selling it for on eBay, it's a steal.

Amazing action and graphics. The graphics are so clear and well designed they just burn your eyes. Awesome!

The item came in the case was almost destroyed and the disk was scratched. Item listing was poor and inaccurate.
